Hi Kazzy, as an alternative to setting it on the phone, you could try contacting your daughters network provider and asking them to bar it...or as a last resort (especially if its causing distress) the police....

Not possible to block the number, the only way is to use scare tactics, tell the lad that you have phoned the police and if the calls dont stop then he will be getting arrested for harrasment. If the calls continue then contact the network and inform the police, it might sound like a road you may not wish to go down but if it is upsetting your daughter then give the little !!!!!! some punishment.

You can store the number in your address book with the name 'DO NOT ANSWER' and set the ringing tone to Silence. This is how I deal with any numbers that I do not want to answer and it works all the time.

Thats a brilliant idea !! Although if its a young girl then when she looks at the miised call list it might upset her if she has 50 missed calls of the scum bag.

Very easily - not a new thing at all. 7 years ago I was doing this on the Nokia 3210.

You assign a ring tone to a certain number.

Go into the phonebook, there should be something called assign tone or something along those lines and select that

You can block a number on a samsung D600. I know because I had one and did it, but unfortunately I've lost the phone and can't play around with it to do it.

When the number is blocked you no longer get phone calls or text messages from that number.

Have a look on google for your daughters handset model instruction book and see if you can do it from there.

If I remember how to do it I'll edit my post.

It's in the settings somewhere. Sorry I'm not more help.

I may not have the Samsung D600 phone but I still had the manual and the following is taken from the manual and might help you.

    My messages menu 5.2

Use this menu to access messages you have received, sent, or except for emails.

    Viewing a message

The following icons may appear on the message list to show the message type:-

SMS, MMS, MMS notifications, Push messages (no idea what they are but feel free to tell me in a border line begging manner).

A "!" icon next to a message means that the message is of high priority. A grey coloured message icon indicates low priority.

Using message options. (this is the bit you really want!)

While viewing the message, press "options" to access the following options:-

Reply via - reply to the sender via SMS or MMS
Forward - forward the message to other people
    Delete - delete the message
Move to phone / move to sim - move the message between teh SIM card and the phone's memory
Add to block list - add the senders number to the block list. You can block up to 10 numbers and can edit your list at any time.
Cut address - extract url's, email addresses, or phone numbers from the message
Cut media - save the media content from the message into your phone's memory
Print via bluetooth - print the message by connecting the pohne to a poirnter via Bluetooth.

I'm sure there is a similar menu in the call options so you can block it from there if you haven't got a text message or just do it the next time you get a text message from the person.

They never know their number is blocked that I know of.

    Hope this makes sense.

    HI Joyce,
is that not just for messages. My D600 has the following call barring options:
    • All outgoing: prohibit outgoing calls.
    • International: prohibit international calls.
    • International except home: only allow calls
to numbers within the current country when
you are abroad, and to your home country.
    • All incoming: prohibit incoming calls.
    • Incoming while abroad: prohibit incoming
calls when you use your phone outside of your
    home country.

Maybe I haven't got the latest software on my phone
