Boiler Replacement

Hi everyone,

Can anyone please give an indicative range of boiler replacement cost? I know it will vary depending on the type of boiler and cost of labour but if anyone can give an indicative range of cost, I'd be grateful.

Many thanks.

Just buying one at the moment.

A fairly mid/high end combi boiler is about 1000-1200. With basic installation around 1600-1800.
  • £1k .
  • Where are you located? The cost of labour can be double in the south.
  • It depends a lot if you are replacing like for like. If you have a combi and are replacing with a combi in the same position, the cost is significantly less than if you have a back boiler and are replacing with a combi for instance.... I think you need to give more details to get the answer you're looking for.

I'm in zone 2 London. At the moment we've got an ancient gas boiler with hot water tank and cold water tank in the loft. I had a guy round to service the boiler and he said to replace the boiler with a combi (on-demand), remove both tanks and replace the 6 radiators and piping and gas pipes would cost £3k. Hope that helps.

If it was my own home (and I feel that this may be coming up soon), I'd buy a standard non condensing boiler and fit it myself - gas safe/corgi aren't allowed to fit them anymore unless under special circumstances.

You can buy a traditional boiler for £500.

Obviously if it is LL property, you need to go down the normal route and fit the boiler meeting legislation.

I'm really not sure that advising breaking the law is that helpful.

An that is apart from any safety implications.

I'm not an expert, but that sounds reasonable to me. The combi boiler itself would be around the £1k mark, then factor in the new radiators and the piping (copper is not cheap), seems about right.
  • Just under £3k is what it recently (last month) cost for a boiler replacement in my parents house, that was the cost of a brand new combi boiler and install which took 3 days.
  • 3.2k here.....no rads though. combi was fitted in the old airing cupboard.
