Thanks for your reply.
Would you happen to know what is safe to switch off that might use data? I am always worried I switch something off, settings-wise, and unknowingly stop email or messages coming through, yet save data.
Go into Settings, then Privacy, then turn OFF Location Services. All that will do is mean that Facebook won't know you're posting from wherever you are when you post. Oh, and you'll suddenly find your battery doesn't drain in a day.
Edit: Liam got in there first with a more comprehensive list1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
How long have you had the contract for? Sometimes companies give you a pro rata first bill, and pro rata data limit with it as wellAll your base are belong to us.0

Most of the things people have mentioned like location services and background app refresh use from a few KB to a few MB and could in no way be responsible for the amount of data you are using. To be able to use that much data in 5 days you would need to have either a 4g or very good 3g connection. Its very likely either a billing error of a fault on your phone. Assuming an average speed for your 3g of 3mb it would take you several hours to download 1 gig of data at a constant rate. It is therefore technically possible to have that sort of usage (IF you have decent 3g) but none of the apps you mentioned (although i have no idea what amazon cloud player is) would get close.0

So it's possible something on the phone could be repeatedly trying to connect or download data. One of the old culprits was e-mail failing to connect to a server properly and requesting the e-mail over and over again.0 -
Frozen Up North. Thats not a reasonable 3g connection. Thats a pretty incredible 3g connection. I couldnt get anything like that within about 50 miles.0

That's Three's DC-HSDPA+ rather than 3G though, it's a good network.0

The speed on Three varies quite significantly during the day, depending on the number of people using it. Also some locations are very poor, here in rural East Yorkshire we might benefit from few users sharing the bandwidth.
Currently at Tuesday lunch time I obtained this speed check of 10 - 12 Mb/s download, using a laptop tethered via "personal hotspot" WiFi to an iPhone 5:

When we went to Cornwall back in September, I managed to use 1.4gb in a week just from Photostream. Make sure it isn't backing up to iCloud using your 3g connection as well. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0
