Spam is generally the term for messages sent without you requesting them.
I.e. unsolicited email, the email is spam.

You do not spam it, it is already spam.

What you do is mark it as spam (mark/flag/identify either term), "move" it to your spam folder/bin and possibly block the sender or senders domain.
You do this when your email client has not recognised that it is spam, so you need to tell it.

You tell the email client it is spam by marking, flagging, identifying some way.
Then it moves it to the spam folder automatically (because you have identified it as spam) and then you can mark the sender as a spammer so you do not see any further emails from them.

A bit depends upon what email client you use for the terminology but IMO it is incorrect to say that you spam it of flag it to the spam folder.

"Spam" is not a verb, it is a noun.
  • Perhaps the whole thread should be "marked" as :spam:
since spam is a noun (or should that be an adjective to describe a collection of other nouns processed.....to produce said noun?) that is loosely used for unsolicited messages. Sadly the unclean youth of today say they will "text you", "message you" or even "spam you". Let's move on and decide if it is possible to send a text containing spam, or send a message containing spam or even send an email containing spam, not forgetting it is not possible to spam a forum without posting a post on said forum.

I don't think there is a specific English verb for it unfortunately =(

Every online dictionary has it listed as a verb (as well as a noun).
I'm pretty sure it's listed as a verb in the OED as well
