I'm sure you would be disappointed about letting people down at Job B, but in my opinion, look after number one. If Job A means you will be better off financially, its a no brainier and i'm sure people at job B would understand that.
Also with winter / xmas coming up (its amazing how many staff become "ill" over xmas!) the earning potential in Job A could be pretty high
LOL, I'm already working Christmas Eve/Christmas Day for someone!! :money::huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

I'm on Xmas eve / Xmas day nights tooIts my shifts to work but I don't mind. Its usually very quiet, the office is full of chocolate and its a very nice money earner

The good thing about working in the NHS is there are often internal vacancies and chances to 'express an interest' in working in another area. So if you're already employed there, you've got an advantage. I would give up Job B and concentrate on Job A for now and keep your ear to the ground for something more substantive with better hours.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0 -
I would go for job A as to be honest surely eventually job B would get fed up with constantly covering your two hours to get to job A so I would choose you to go first if any job loses were needed as for the employer of job B your rota must be a nightmare.0

I would go for Job A. Give it a while (a year maybe) and then look for a Band 4 permanent position, with 9-5 hours if possible.0

As someone who is currently employed as "Job B" (at a different trust)... I would definitely go for Option 2... Better pay, training and progression in Job A makes Option 2 a winner.0

Option 2.. it's a no brainer.
I've got two jobs in the NHS just now too. One is three days a week, year long contract, the other a much nicer 'as and when' job. Now I've been offered a full time job somewhere else so have to give up both A and B jobs. I feel rotten about giving notice at the contract job because everyone seems to be leaving just now and they are so short staffed but I'm going to do it nevertheless. I have to think about what's best for me, as you do. Go for it and good luck. Hope we are both happy in our new NHS jobs.0 -
I agree, option 2. Are the physical, mental and financial downsides of the other options really worth it, just to avoid some guilt (which you will get over)?
I recently left a job for a better one..I felt some guilt, since my ex-employer had paid for two years of training which I never got to use in their employment (yet it's been of huge benefit in getting me the new job)..but ultimately, a job is a job. You have to look out for yourself, because in most cases the company will look out for the company. If there's a period where costs need to be cut, and hours reduced, do you think an employer would refuse to cut your hours personally because they'd feel bad about it? Ultimately, hard decisions are made by employers for the interest of running the business - and you have to made those decisions yourself for your best interest.0 -
Another vote for Option 2."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Thanks guys, it looks unanimous, doesn't it?
As long as it's an unconditional offer of a job and not a first chance to apply, I'll probably go for it.
Even though it's Band 3 part time, the shift allowance and unsociable hours payments take it up to almost the bottom of a Band 4. And as a struggling money junkie, I'll always be available for extra shifts if someone can't make it.
Thanks for your time. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
