    Good Morning All :)

I have saved £229 today, in my various 'pots' online. It feels good to save something, even if it isn't very much.
I wanted to put the £200 into my £5K fund account too, but I am better off waiting until the car has its MOT this afternoon. No point in transferring it over if I need to withdraw it later. I think the car needs a new fan belt, so I don't think it'll pass the MOT.
    We'll see.
But at least I have the money to pay for it :)

My spread sheet is working nicely, and it definitely makes things easier!
My Business account has been added to my OLB as of this morning, so its nice to see that when I log in.

I am off to work until 1pm, then dropping the car off at the garage.

Have a lovely day everyone :) I am so pleased its almost the weekend!
  • Well done on being able to save during the month of January. I would imagine that many people find January the most difficult month, worrying how to pay off the Christmas over-spending!

Fingers crossed that your car passes the MOT. We have gone to the same garage for about twenty years and it is great. We used to get our cars serviced from the 'official' garage where we bought them and it cost an absolute fortune. Our smallish garage does the Annual Service and the MOT on the same day so it never fails as they fix anything beforehand. For both the service and MOT bill usually comes to around £200. Talking about cars, we got a great deal for insurance on our Nissan that we bought last March. The insurance had been carried over from our old car through Volvo Insurance and the January renewal came in at £360.89. However, being a Nationwide customer they had sent an offer for 20% off car insurance and so I managed to get the same quality of policy for only £217.08. Considering that the Nationwide account also gives us Breakdown Cover through Britannia Rescue (underwritten by LV and very highly rated) it also meant I could cancel our RAC breakdown cover.
  • Well done on the Business Account. It goes to show what can be achieved by being sensible with credit. If only we all knew years ago :rotfl:

That's a great amount saved in January. Hopefully the car gets through everything ok and it doesn't cost too much. I had it when cars fail, its not like they don't cost enough to buy in the first place...

Hope your well and everyone else is doing ok. I have the full weekend off (about bloody time too) so im relaxing and doing a full update on all my missed threads/updates. Think im going to read my books until I fall asleep. I have so many to read and im picking up another one from the shop later today (paid for by xmas voucher).

WTBSE - what console do your boys use. I used to be on mine the whole time when I was in my teenage years. If there playing with their friends online, there is nothing better unfortunately as its the world we live in. My parents disconnected it and stole the power lead every time I was bad, so I bought another one in the shop and used it for emergencies :D

I visited the Millionaire threat the other day, some fantastic advice on there. I've put up my plan for the next 20 years. If only it was so easy.

Goooood Afternoon Everyone :) Its officially the weekend, YAY!
Been to work, dropped the car off at the garage and had some lunch (HM falafel and salad in pitta with mayo).

OW- that's a great deal on your car insurance :) My sister is an insurance broker, so I never pay ridiculous amounts for insurance.

    Mr CF
, feel free to link your threads here, I'd love to read any :)
My older son has a PS4 and my younger son has an Xbox 360.
I probably use the Xbox as much as my son, as I use it to watch Netflix.
My older son loves his PS4 but the games are so expensive, so he is on his PC more than his PS4. I need to check out eBay for new games I think :)

I watch netflix on my TV, with Google cromecast so I dont need to use my boys PS4. Which is just as well and twin 1 ran off to Uni with it in his suitcase lol.

Dont know how I managed to spend over 100 at Tesco today, must be all the household stuff I had to buy which I normally dont (ie DW tabs, oxi crystals, fabric softener, and dog food was on sale so bulk bought a bit).

I hate running out of stuff and having to pay full price- it really gets on my nerves.

atush, I've never heard of Google chromecast, LOL.
Wow, £100 is a LOT, but like you say its probably because of all the household stuff too.
I hate buying stuff at full price too, I always feel like I am being ripped off it I don't get a few pennies off something :)

Still waiting for the garage to let me know about the car. Its not a case of 'has it passed?' more a case of 'how much will fixing it cost me?'.

I have been trying to find a cover for my extractor fan in the kitchen, as it lets lots of cold air in. Does anyone know where I could get one?
I have also been looking at getting some of this for the porch door
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B2KU5AC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3Y1BC713RZXT&coliid=ICPZ5T9SFUNCL&psc=1
The porch leads directly into the lounge, no hallway in between, and the door is very draughty. I am not sure if this stuff is just for the bottom of the door, or if I can put it all the way around the door?

OH MY GOD...the garage just called, my car has PASSED the MOT!!!!! Going to pick it up now!

    Congrats on the MOT.

The draught excluder goes all the way round the frame.

    Thanks EM :)

I am honestly really shocked, but in a VERY good way! So that means I am putting £200 into my £5K fund today!
    Woo-Hoo!

With that draught excluder tape, it is meant for doors that don't get opened much or will it be OK in the porch do you think?
