Perhaps she believes she owes you money? She's going to calculate the days she was using the flat and make a contributory offer towards what you've paid! Ha I know that is highly unlikely.

Just close all of your accounts giving your landlords details, take a photo of the meter reads, just incase you need evidence. I'm sure you'll be pleased when this is all over!

You never know, maybe she does believe that she owes me money. I'm not holding my breath though.

Stupidly I thought my landlady was just going to pay my deposit into my bank account but no she wants to meet in person to go through things (I am taking this to mean the deductions she is making) and will then return my deposit in cash. Originally she wanted to meet on Saturday afternoon but I'm away this weekend so now she wants to meet next Monday or Tuesday. I just want to hand my keys back, get my deposit back and say "Sayonara" to the woman. I was listening to Jay-Z's 99 problems are I was unpacking in my new flat.

My tenancy officially ends tomorrow, do you think I could just send her keys back special delivery tomorrow or should I just wait until next week to listen to her crap?

The keys have to be returned to end the tenancy or she can claim an extra month rent.

Agree with her via text that you will drop them into the flat tonight or tomorrow. Take a copy of the relevent day's paper and photo the two as you put the keys through the letter box.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

That's what I thought and why I'm keen to give the keys back.

Pixie - are you any good at writing because all this carry on and malarkey would make a very funny sitcom
    (good luck with the keys)
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

That's a good idea. I knew early on I had made a mistake entering into this tenancy agreement. For example when I first moved in my LL burned sage to get rid of the bad ju ju left by the previous tenant. I can only imagine that she is now building a wicker man to burn in the garden once I'm gone. I've had some good mileage out these stories in the pub. :rotfl:
  • Meeting in person is all well and good but you will have no proof of who said what unless you record the conversation. Much better to have it all down on writing.

Exactly. Maybe if she puts it in writing then "big brother might be watching". :rotfl:

I think the best course of action is not to be belligerent but have all my ducks in a row just in case.

I've just has her PA on the phone about utility bills. It was painful, she just doesn't get utility bills and maths is clearly not her strong point but then again she has never had any bills of her own as she still lives at home. My LL really shouldn't leave her PA to deal with these things.

Yes, my dealings with this nightmare landlady are finally over. Today I received my full deposit back, no quibbles from the LL whatsoever.

Apparently she misses sharing with me....bizarre, and has a new [STRIKE]victim[/STRIKE] tenant lined up.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read my rantings and offer advice.
