Wont work because its a different socket to the headphone out on the pc, audio in on tv is the red/white sockets of old.....
You don't HAVE to use leads with the same plugs at each end... Get a 3.5mmm jack to twin phono lead from any Maplin, B&Q, Curry/PC World, connect 3.5mm to headphone out on laptop, twin phonos to audio in on TV.
Any of these

This one should work fine. I have used the same cable type on around 12 different laptops and 15 different TV/projector combos in conference centre type situations.0 -
You can also get them in 99p and poundland stores if you've got one near you
