  • Hello. I hope you're all having a ball in Asda or elsewhere.
    a-v-s
I spotted this: Nivea Lotion Dry Skin (250ml)£2.40 in Asda and 1.20 in Sains.
    (its the white bottle)
Would go well with Fajitas. (obviously, don't eat the Nivea).

The Australian fish importers Association says the Mekong is actually very clean. Something which seems to be backed up by numerous journal papers concerning the river.

Iirc most of the scary stories online about basa/river cobbler can be traced to one original bit of urban legend/spam that did the rounds 6 or 7 years ago.
I've looked for a journal paper citing the contaminants, but all I can find are various papers looking at the (contaminant) effects that farming is having on the local environment, and various diseases that are common in farmed fish - including salmon and cod.
As always eating farmed fish is not without it's risks, but they are apparent in locally farmed fish too.

I'm happy to be corrected as I hate being misinformed, but I'm expecting science, backed up with peer reviewed journal references ;)

Was just first reference I found after googling Basa Mrs B. I have no idea how true it is. I get fresh fish from my fisherman friend so do not buy much from the supermarket so I am no expert. :o

Best go and finish my game of tetris in the bottom of my larder. Adding my new stock of beans and pasta. Found rather a lot of those 19p lasagne sheets dated May 2013. Forgot all about those, thought the carboard box only had wholewheat pasta in. Oops. :o

I think they'll be ok Tiny. Most of the time, manufacturers try to protect themselves by giving short use by dates. I would still use them.

Firstly, please do not think I'm having a go. I'm not, the exact opposite actually.
The fact that it was the first thing you found just shows how widespread this misinformation is, and how quickly and widely things are spread. The world and his wife were forwarding this email on without stopping to ask themselves where the writer got their information and if it was true. It's something we can see daily on the web. Unless something is backed up with references it's likely just opinion.
