All I was hoping is if enough ORANGE customers did the same as me and objected to the UNFAIR charge then it would make orange look at this policy Especially as they are adopting more and more EE policy's towards orange being fully intergrated
As you can hear on BBC Money Box (see above), Ofcom are already investigating these unlawful surcharges. As a result, Vodafone have already responded that they will soon not allow customers to pay by any means other than direct debit. Orange might go the same way.

    I've just read your reply
I doubt if they will follow especially as I think you may find its considered restrictive practice so anyone stuck may want to contact their nearest trading standards Also don't think their contract change would stand up in court

Shame I didn't read this before as it seems I've stirred up a hornets nest
Macman I think you are basing your comments on YOUR experiences
The trouble with big companies they think we are all stupid As to taking time I was quite happy for a number of years as I wasn't charged it was only when I upgraded one year to EE I noticed the clause on the back of the invoice it stated there was NO charge if you paid by bank transfer or DD this is why I took it up with EE/Orange and believe it or not the only reason they did this was when they took over T Mobile as all those customers did NOT pay the extra
I believe it is important to stand up for our rights The only reason companies get away with this sort if thing is in general the UK is to soft
