I am unable to get into the computer it will not do anything just comes up starting windows then asking for my password.:mad:0 -
you have to press F8 before the starting windows screen comes up!!

I don't know if you are having timing issues, but pressing the bios f2/factory restore f12/safe mode f8 keys before windows starts should do something different, assuming the machine was properly shutdown beforehand (hold down the power button for 6 seconds), and the keyboard is working
If it really won't boot, you will have to rescue your data - software to do that is mentioned in the speedup sticky thread above, and reinstall windows - niftydigits may be able to help with a windows disc if you can't get factory restore working!!

Tap the key (F2/F8/F12) about once a second as soon as you've started the power-up sequence. keep tapping until you get a different screen to the normal Windows login.
One of the options should be to do a Factory Restore, which will allow a log in, but wipe all your data and aftermarket software. No free lunch, and no free laptop

There are a few programs that can help with password problems assuming it is your own computer. You basically make a bootable USB flash drive/stick (using such utilities as Rufus/Yumi or Unetbootin) and install by using another computer one or more of the following programs
Kon-Boot http://piotrbania.com/all/kon-boot/
Trinity Rescue http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=5&front_id=12
Offline NT Password http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
Power on your own computer. In the first few seconds and depending on your computer access the BIOS (Usually it’s by pressing either the Del, F1, F2 or F12 keys) and change the boot order on the BIOS so that it boots up the USB flash drive and one of the mentioned programs rather than the operating system of the computer. You will then be able in easy steps use the selected program to quickly access your computer.0 -

You could try to strip the password.

I used "PCLoginNow" to crack all passwords on an XP machine. It was pretty much instantaneous0 -

We had that message on my Vista pc - the user profile had got corrupted somehow and my OH (who is a software engineer) couldn't fix it, so he ended up creating a new user instead. I think we had several other user profiles though, so he wasn't locked out completely.0
