Laptop password Help

I have been using my laptop this morning without any problems, I have tried to use it early evening and I cannot as it is asking for my password when I tap my password in it says - user profile service service failed the logon, user profile cannot be loaded, then it will give me a password hint to which I know the answer its the password I have always used, no one else has had use of the laptop it is not possible anyone could have changed the password.
Please hope someone can help.

    reboot means shutdown and restart

if that doesn't cure it, post more details of model, windows discs/backup devices available.

the backup suggestion is there for the future.

Sorry I have tried that when it restarts it asks for the password again and the failed logon comes back again.

Hi Closed and thanks for your help I am a novice when things go wrong, I have tried F2 earlier and F12 but each time it says starting windows and then asks for the password it just does not seem to recognise the one we have used since new, I do have things on the laptop but mainly use for browsing nothing important so not to worried about the backup, no windows discs for the laptop as this came with the laptop to be downloaded but never did.
    Thanks again for your input
  • This happened with my laptop. When I took it back to the vendor they said they'd been having a lot of people coming in with this problem. They weren't sure if it was something to do with a Windows update or a virus. They fixed it for a fee and advised me to get some better anti viral software installed. I haven't had a problem since then.
