    My dad is a pain!
He never actually wants anything specific normally so for Christmas it is even worse! He does not read, listen to music or watch TV much.
    The past few years.....
Football t shirt of his team, beer related items hamper (with beer mats, puzzles, nuts, beer), something for his computer, built him a cheap laptop, clothes socks, slippers etc (my parents divorced years ago and he still wears worn out clothes that are 20 years old and never buys any new socks lol so i am slowly making him fashionable;) ), brew kit - which he is doing well with, liquorice!... actually i am thinking i am quite lucky, i can get him anything and he appreciates it!
  • My dads birthday is in December so it's really difficult thinking up two presents, but he loves wine and I know he always likes the look of wine crates/hampers like the Virgin ones so this year I'm making him his own wine hamper. You can get some good deals on wines in the supermarkets, I'll then buy a really nice/special wine to go in with the others. I'm also thinking of doing him a cheese and meat platter too in a basket to go with it. Then I have the difficulty of thinking up another gift for him, although he really does love his smellies. The Post Office gift cards are also really good as you can spend them at so many places!

My wife and I find my father is easy enough to buy a present for. However, her father is an absolute nightmare as he seems to have no real interests.

Tried a nice bottle of Scotch for Father in Law before, I ended up bringing it home with me (where it was very much appreciated). :rotfl:

I've mentioned this a few times on here. This has saved money since buying it earlier this year and every bloke I know who uses this type of blade to shave moans about the cost.

Thank you so much, I've never heard of one of these and just ordered for my brother in law. I want one for myself (as women do shave too ya know!!) but unsure as my razor has vertical safety grilles but I can test it out first. What a good idea!!
  • Thanks spendless. Brilliant idea for my DH and of course I can borrow it then :-)

My "best buy" to date for my dad was a digital weather station. There are loads to choose from to suit any pocket. Aldi have one in this week for £19.99 but there are cheaper ones on Amazon.

P.S. Have just bought a Razorpit for the hard to buy for other half!! Cheers!

I do lots of little bits for my Dad initially because I couldn't think of one big thing but now he prefers having a big pile just like the kids:cool:

This year he's having a bunch of silly practical joke type things as he loves to make my girls giggle. He's got a jumping spider, glasses that are actually a straw, those glasses with the nose and moustache and some wind up toys. Last year I got him a massive pretend stag beetle in a cooks match box because as a grubby little school boy he used to scare the girls on his bus with a real one  turns out boys never grow up!:rotfl:

Dad's birthdays are always new shirts as he hates shopping! Christmas the last few years has been a subscription to National Geographic (bought with Tesco clubcard points).
Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!
