Thank you Thriftlady for this thread. The recipes that I have tried have been fab. The hot water pastry pork pie is brilliant and huge (8 decent portions). Congratulations on the POM.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0

But you should be on the whalemeat stage of things by now, shouldn't you???? That seems to have come in after the war when things were still very tight.
Sandy2 what shall I tackle next ? maybe only home produced foods. That's something I've been thinking about, but I think it would be really hard to do without spices, tea, coffee and chocolate. You can get English wine though -thank goodnessand plenty of beer and cider.
Or, as my mil suggested, what about doing without the fridge for a couple of weeks, which is what I should have done during my wartime experiment to be authentic.
Or, maybe we'll just eat whatever we like provided it is real food of course0 -
:T Congrats on winning the post of the month Thriftlady! You deserved it after all the hard work you put in.Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
