Failed credit score at 3 Mobile

For the first time in my life I have just failed a credit score whilst trying to purchase a sim only plan with 3. I've got a 999 credit rating according to Experian with 20% of my credit being used.
The only thing I can think went against me is that I have started a new job only 2 months ago, however the job is very well paid. At no point during the application was I asked my salary though.

Has anyone else had experience of being turned down by 3?

What would be the best thing to do now as I don't won't another credit check being carried out that I might fail?

Any ideas much appreciated.

You need a score of 995 to be accepted for a 3 mobile contract I'm afraid.

Probably - 3 Mobile like to take a bit of risk with their customers, so they look for people with a less than perfect score - if you can get it down to the low 900s they'll be throwing extras at you.

Anyway, pop in a 321 '3' pay as you go SIM and you will never be able to spend as much as if you had a contract.

Wow. Don't really understand that philosophy but thanks for the info. Not sure I'd really like to lower my score, it's seemed to fair me well with everyone else.

Your nice 999 score is just an irrelevant made up number that the CRAs flog to gullible punters like you to make them feel all warm and fuzzy. As you can see it has no baring on your ability to get credit (even something as simple to get as a phone contract).

3 will have not seen your score and will have assessed you on their own internal criteria, which you haven't met (possibly due to the short time in your job).

Think it would tie me to worrying about data usage to be honest. I'm continually starting to hit my current 750mb limit half way through the month, that's what attracted me to their monthly sim plan being unlimited data.

    Thanks anyway.

    OK, that I can believe!

Op, have you looked at the Tesco sim only 1 month contacts. £12.50 a month includes 2gb of data. There are big signs in our local store saying they do not carry out a credit check on the 1 month rolling sim contacts

I'll have a look, any idea what network they use? Unfortunately can only get 3G on EE, T-Mobile and 3 where I live so that narrows the selection down a bit.
