You have to chew through a huge amount of bandwidth to invoke FUP intervention. Any unlimited service will do the job for you.
You can't use VM, you're already on BT, so your options are primarily Sky, Talktalk or Plusnet. This assumes that you are on an LLU exchange for the former two providers.

I am only a low user, but FWIW I have found Plusnet customer service excellent

  • I have moved from Plusnet to Talk Talk [As a loyal customer Plusnet were extracting the Michael over prices]

Plus net is the bargain basement of BT and avoids BT appearing to compete with itself.

What is your existing FTTC line speed, I am getting over 5 Mbps from cheepo TT.

When I checked out FTTC potential speeds with Samknows, I would probably only get a doubling of that speed as my cabinet is nearly a mile away, half way to my local exchange. (it is a fairly large green thing recently installed on the pavement)

I appreciate your feedback on talktalk, but I think they will always be on my back for hogging the bandwidth, as they have fair useage.
I'm not sure why they'd do that as they are truly unlimited, they don't enforce a fair use policy anymore.

Just for reference I am with TalkTalk, I download circa 120GB a month and haven't heard a peep from them, nor has my connection slowed down. It has actually been the most stable connection I have ever had, my download speed is constantly within a range of 14-15 Meg.

Hey ho, more bandwidth for me :D

    All TalkTalk packages are unlimited.

You should consider TalkTalk Essentials TV.
Very good basic YouView box included. It doesn't record but does enable you to pause and rewind live TV which I think is a brilliant facility - I use it all the time.

BT, TT and Plusnet are all unlimited usage now. And if you ever want to add TV, both BT and TT offer Youview atm and Plusnet will be offering it next year. Packages start at £7.50 a mth via TT which includes TV, BB and some calls, plus line rental.
