Nope, sorry, its creepy. This is almost certainly not going to happen.
In the years I worked in customer facing jobs, I was asked out, asked for my number and chatted up tediously often, all young women in these jobs are. I don't think any of them ever actually reciprocate!0 -

I used to work as a customer associate, and the number of times I had to deal with creepy, weird men trying it on was unbelievable. I hated it. One day there was this man who was asking 20 questions, personal ones, he went on and on until I told him that I was here to advise him and serve him, not to answer questions about my personal life. I was just on the verge of walking away when he stormed out, closely followed by his smirking mate, trying to control his laughter!

There is a way round it which involves parting with cash.
Don't think that can be true. I sent a message to someone I don't know as I had heard through a friend that he runs a karate club. My son wants to go there. I found him on facebook and sent a message but didn't ask to be his friend. He replied within 2 hours. We are still not friends on facebook but I will be going to the karate club this week.0 -

I've also messaged people I'm not friends with on FB before and received ones from non-friends, infact I sent one only last night and got a reply this morning. I guess you can probably set it not to receive messages from people off-list though.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

It is completely true that messages from non friends go into the 'other' folder. Its probably just that some people check it more frequently! I had a message in there for nearly a year once before I realised...0 -

I didn't know there was an 'other' folder....*goes off to check it out*
Blimey!! so there is  I only had 7 messages in mine and they were all really boring, mostly events and invitations to like pages.
Still must have had messages in my main folder though as I didn't know this existed til now.Over futile odds
