Plusnet locking me out

I got locked out of my computer this morning by PlusNet and haven't quite figured out how I got back in again.
My previous provider was Virgin Cable. I moved about a month ago and now have PlusNet as my provider.
I've been used to just switching on my computer and up comes my standard screen (ie Google) and off I go. Since moving here and getting PlusNet as a provider I keep getting a "Technicolour Gateway" screen up (obviously PlusNet's). I've got round that by just switching off and on again and got my normal screen.
That darn screen kept coming up and coming up whenever I want to use my computer and switch it on and demanding username and password off me and keeping me locked out this morning as I struggled with every wild guess I could think of to put in a username and password and hope that screen would never surface again. I've got round it for now, but I expect it will be back.
What do I have to do to ensure that that PlusNet screen never comes up again please and I always get my normal Google home screen straight away. I'm not going to log in to some suppliers screen to start with.
My computer is taking longer to "get going" of a morning too and I suspect its delaying whilst "picking up" that unwanted provider screen en route.
I'm not technically-minded and won't be signing-in each time I use my pc - so what do I do now please to get rid of that sign in screen once and for all and stop the delays in pc-readiness its creating.
I think I'm going to have to leave my p.c. permanently switched on for now whilst I sort out how to get rid of PlusNet sign-on screen.

Have you contacted Plusnet to ask them about this screen?0

We are with PlusNet and never had a problem like this. PlusNet's helpline is free - give them a call and they might be able to assist.0

I've been trying to ring that helpline and been hanging on for ages a couple of times with no joy so far.
Other thought is that maybe the computer wrongly thinks that I'm using it on wireless and is taking this extra time trying to connect me up to wireless. I am connected up with electric cables everywhere going into a standard desktop computer (not a laptop).
When it came to the username/password scenario I tried every variation of the username/password I thought I had in the first place. I then realised it had got a different username and password on the router box and tried that in the sign-in screen, but it didn't work. I think maybe I managed to get in finally at about the 6th time of trying that exact same username/password on the bottom of that router box.
Wonder whether that is what the system is expecting from me on that sign-on page, but has a glitch in it that it wont accept it until its been put in several times in a row?0 -

for many queries the forums are a better bet than raising a ticket and certainly better than a telephone helpline reading from a script0 -
I have Googled Technicolour Gateway and it is the router

I think you need someone to give you more advice than I can regarding connecting your router to the internet.0 -

Thanks. You're a star. I loathe and detest script-reading responses to my phonecalls. Sounds like "way to go":T0 -

The screen isn't PlusNet's. It's being generated by your router because you most likely have it or your browser misconfigured.
You can find the setup guide for your router here:
https://portal.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/
Section 5 in the below document explains what to do if your router presents the Technicolor login screen. You need to be connected through PlusNet to view these links.
https://portal.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/technicolor-582n-setup-guide.shtml
I've repeated the instructions here in case you can't log in.
Enter admin as the Username.
For the Password enter the SN number shown on the bottom of your router or your setup card (it starts with CP)
Click OK to continue
Now you'll need to enter your Broadband Username and password.
Click Connect when you've done this.
After about a minute the Internet light on your router will turn green and you'll see Configuration Sucessful. Close your web browser window.
Open a new browser window and you'll see your home page. Congratulations, you're now connected and able to browse the Internet.
That should only be required the first time you connect to PlusNet.
If you're still being presented with the login screen every time you attempt to connect, then you probably have a link in your browser set to connect to 192.168.1.254 which is the router and not the internet. In that case, the reason you are getting the login screen is because you are attempting to connect to the router's configuration interface, which you would only need to do if you wanted to change its settings. Has your browser been set to connect to the router as its home page by mistake?
If so, you will get the router login screen every time you open the browser or click on the home button. In that case, following Closed's instructions above should fix it.0
