Hi All,
Ok so Mr Boy has always been ok (bit barky but not to bad) with fireworks.
Mrs Cowbag is really suffering, she has fear aggression and the work I had done with her had really improved her behaviour now we are back to square one.
Got them on Zylkene, keeping them in and drowning the noise as much as I am able. Anyone think of anything else I can do?

I really feel for you. I have a westie that is petrified. We have so far tried Kalmaid, a diffuser and Bachs rescue remedy.
The vet has suggested Zycline which we are going to pick up after work. We have also tried the CD which did nothing.
Out vet said that is just trial and error trying to find which works best.
I hate the fireworks wish it could be restricted to just organised fireworks, lasts for about three weeks by us at all times of the night. It was 11.00pm on Friday night and someone started letting off the loud bangers.
Hope your babies are ok and don't get too upset.Wins 2014 - £100 John Lewis Vouchers, Personalised Razor, Aunt Bessies Oven Glove. Good food show tickets. Forever Friends Bear.0 -
My male is ok, he likes to watch them, its only if he cant see them he gets a bit nervous and wants cuddles. Mrs worked herself into a frenzy and unfortunately that means trying to bite stuff (last night she launched herself at my boy).
I had got her calm and stopped this, now back to square one, good job I love her (last night she made it blumin difficult).
Hope your westie is ok, my male is a black and white Jack, my female is supposed to be a Jack but I think somewhere in her history is chinese crested0 -
Zara was ok every year so far but this year... tottal panic.
She jumped on the bed and sat (!!) on my face at one point.
She never sleeps with me but this year when there is a noise outside - she is with me on the bed or if I am not on the bed she is stuck like a glue to my leg or tries to get under furniture.
And where I live - those (&&%$%£"!$! go for 2-3 weeks every year and till very, VERY late at night :mad:0 -
I dont know whether the fireworks are louder this year, but yep Laurs has never bothered before. Froo is nervy and this is her first full year with me so that maybe why shes a heck of a lot worse.
You know your getting old when you whinge about the constant fireworks from mid Oct to the new year0 -
Lenny isn't scared by them he just thinks it's someone knocking on the door so barks and runs back and forth waiting for me to go and see who it is!
We try to keep the livingroom door locked and the TV volume a little louder than normal and so far he's only hearing a small percentage of the ones that go off. He's normally flat out by 8pm anyway!0 -
they seem alot louder this year so drowning em out isnt really working.
Plus my two get 5 walks a day (no garden, only shared, stops em going nuts) as its dark when I get in from work they would lose out on two walks if I kept them in. Have limited them so theyre doing the short walk but im not sure thats making any difference.0 -
Camt do this again they are wound up to fever pitch I have a migraine think im yonna have to sedate them next year0

Luckily, Pipsqueak is not bothered about fireworks - apart from last night, when we were outside and she saw them. At first she was mesmerised, as they were quite pretty colours. But then one went BANG! And she wanted to run home. Thank goodness she hasn't associated that noise with the rest of the fireworks, as someone across the road has just set some off, and there will be more around the village later, no doubt.
A friend of mine had a dog that really hated the fireworks. What eventually helped, was keeping her close and putting a towel or blanket over her, completely cocooning her. She seemed to calm down that way. I appreciate that this might not work for many, but it might be worth a try.0 -
Rocky seems a bit jumpy this year- he's never been bothered before.
Mind you, it didn't help that just as I lifted him out of the car at the vets earlier, a big one went off just behind the practice- he jumped all four legs off the ground

Have had loads going off around here the last couple of days for Bonfire night and Duwali. Captain Dumbass barks at them all. We've got an Adaptil plug in which is making hee-haw difference but I've managed to distract him with a yummy bone.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0
