What on earth is s OK important that he wants a permanent copy. Set the box to record stuff when its shown live.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

The installation manual for the BT YouView box shows it to have two SCART sockets, and it suggests if your TV doesn't have HDMI, to connect the box to TV with SCART.
Get a DVD or DVD/HDD recorder, and connect SCART - SCART to record from the YouView box, surely ...?
It's no different from connecting any other set-top box to a recorder.
Apart from the copy protection!
Be aware that a while ago the YouView software changed to emit a SCART signal with copy protection turned on. Presumably this was done to prevent copies being made of On Demand material.:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Some online sources suggest this only applies to certain Sky channels0 -

You shouldn't need too many grey cells to realise I have missed something in the last week that I would like recorded.
Youview and iplayer potentially allow me to get a recorded copy.0 -

Edited: funny that youview ad just came on my telly at 23:50 claiming to watch the crap in the last 7 days, I can't even watch what I don't want to watch from this afternoon ( eg Channel 4 news or Star Trek)4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . What on earth is s OK important that he wants a permanent copy. Set the box to record stuff when its shown live.Why on earth would someone NOT want a permanent copy of a TV programme? Just because you don't find anything of interest, doesn't mean that everyone else should see it your way...4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . A question I've been wondering about as well.
Sorry but the earlier answers seem conflicting to me (post 5 says yes, post 7 says no)
Just to clarify - if, for example, someone says - 'did you see that programme last night?' I could then watch it on YouView catch-up.
Could I also record the programme for later viewing or can YouView only record programmes at the time they are broadcast?0 -

I didn't misquote him, I corrected his post. He wrote;What on earth is s OK important that he wants a permanent copy. Set the box to record stuff when its shown live.
which I read as (see post #15, too), and corrected to;
"What on earth is so important that he wants a permanent copy?"
The implication from this being that it's seen as somehow deviant to want to keep a TV programme permanently. I disagree. There's plenty of stuff worth keeping.
It's pointless to tell the OP to record it live, as it's clear the OP has already missed it and wants to record it from a catch-up service.
You really need to dismount from that high horse.0
