If you want to record programs from the BBC iplayer you need some software called "get-iplayer"

YouView is a PVR so naturally you can record any live programmes.

Yes, you would be streaming a programme over the internet, simultaneously you could be recording 2 programmes off air.

Either that or change to the Sky platform, but that costs more.

The installation manual for the BT YouView box shows it to have two SCART sockets, and it suggests if your TV doesn't have HDMI, to connect the box to TV with SCART.

Get a DVD or DVD/HDD recorder, and connect SCART - SCART to record from the YouView box, surely ...?

It's no different from connecting any other set-top box to a recorder.
