  • Good morning everyone :)

Crazy weather overnight with high winds and either torrential rain or hailstones. Still very windy and grey but not actually raining at the moment. I am really not convinced our roof repairs are going to happen this week.

Still managing to keep the heating off but it is getting very chilly. Our gas use over the summer was simply ridiculous and that is just for hot water for a short time twice a day and our hob, everything else is electric. When we ask British Gas about this, they tell us it's because our boiler is so old and inefficient. I don't know whether that is true but it just seems to eat up gas and I don't want to put the heating on and double that consumption. Does anyone have a recommendation for a portable heater we could use? DH wants a Dyson but I have told him to get real! I was thinking of a ceramic or halogen fan heater which we could move between the dining room and the living room. Any ideas?

Still haven't been to the tip but DH has promised to bring some stuff down out of the loft this morning. We will sort that and then make a combined charity shop/tip trip. Have a few things ready to list on ebay so will do that too.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all,

the storm hit us yesterday afternoon, and this morning several of the pine trees in the park seem... well. at rather different angles than normal. One appears to be almost down as there is a gap that didn't exist yesterday morning. Oh dear.

DS2 enjoyed the wedding and his kilt stayed down in the photos as they were taken indoors. The poor bride & groom went off for outside photos in a rural setting and came back rather windswept though. I remember the days of 12 pictures being the wedding norm - in the white album with silvery patterned paper inbetween. OK, I'm old.

Not sure what will be happening today other than DS returning the kilt, getting him to the train and the Strictly results show.

Off for some breakfast and then chapel.

Thanks for the FB warning Donny, I have a separate FB email address which I rarely open as I hated having the main one so cluttered.

Take care and have fun if possible x

    Morning all

Donny-gal thanks for the heads up

hardup Hester there is a campaign at the moment called 'bin your bras'. It's for breast cancer , the bras are recycled and the proceeds go to further research. House of Fraser have recycling points .

tru your veg looks lovely , well done on the beetroot, it will taste even nicer as it's free :D

It's wet and windy here , it was very windy last night , but I don't see any damage at the moment

Taking dd1 back to uni at lunchtime and dd2 is working , so no Sunday lunch for us , will probably rustle up scrambled eggs when we get in .

It's been lovely having dd1 back , she has been ill with a chest infection and needed some tlc , which she got and I think she does feel better. Plus she has a suitcase full of clean freshly ironed clothes to go back with :A. We will stop at a supermarket and pick her up some fresh food on the way back and she should be sorted.

Piggies and cat are fed , the cat is currently curled up on DHs lap. The kitchen is clean

Have a good day everyone xx

    Morning all,

BB thanks I've started one as well. The orange chicken I posted this morning looks yummy:D
I had a good day yesterday, totally gluten free and no Gluten:j. meant no stomach ache.
Today a quick tidy round, DGS back from his dads shortly and we are off to the museum to see the bugs. Then back for a quick lunch and a relaxing evening. I hope Dave goes out on strictly tonight, much as I love the Hairy Bikers he truly is a terrible dancer.
It was very wild here last night and blowing a gale. We lit the fire and caught up with Dracula, wasn't overly impressed but shall give it another episode.
I have some parsnips and sweet potato that want using up, may make soup later.
    Have a great Sunday x

Morning everybody, hope you are all well.
I never seemed to stop yesterday and didnt get on here so I'll catch up in a minute. We were having some friends round last night to watch the fireworks across the road at the cricket club.I made 2 cakes and we had pasties and peas so it was cheap entertaining :D They brought some parkin, and beer and wine, but the weather was so bad we watched from one of the front bedrooms. The pup looked a bit worried when the bangs started but she wasnt too petrified thank goodness.Leo used to come and watch with us,it never fazed him :rotfl:

DS2,DF and DGD called for a couple of hours ,it's the first time DGD has stayed with them in their new house. She woke in the night and was crying cos she didnt know where she was,and wet the bed :( bless her.She kept wondering where I was too so she was very pleased to see me.She'd been away most of last week too so we hadnt seen her for over a week.

Not sure who is in for tea,I've told DS2 they can come any Sunday, just let me know.I've got sliced meat in gravy in the freezer so not too much trouble.Plenty of cake left so no baking today.

Right I'd better go and get ready for dog training, tho' dog in question is flat out and snoring atm :rotfl:

Hope you have a nice Sunday x

    Morning all!
Have been reading but not posting much, I have been totally shattered this week, today is my last phased return day off, back to full time hours next week! At least I have some holidays over the next few months!
RR I understand completely how your mum feels with dad back home, Iain has been in my bedroom for a few months, and will stay there till at least next year till we feel able to make the journey to the outer Hebrides, he wanted his ashes scattered in North Uist where he spent so many happy times with his family, its a long trip and I'm not ready to do it yet, and of course MIL is still being a bit funny about it!
Sun's out just now, but still blowing a bit, so not sure what to get up to, am sure I will find something.
Have a good day all, huge hugs where needed!
    RIP Iain

  • Morning all.

Still in my pjs. Will finish my coffee & get dressed & go to asda.

Did my meal plan yesterday & went to sainsburys. Need asda today for bread & milk. And the newspapers. I haven't got any room in my freezer for the bread & milk. After Christmas I want to buy a freezer to put in my garage.

Need to sit down & plan Christmas. Really short of money this year. Am paring things back as much as possible.

Need to Hoover & iron today.

We have pie & mash for tea tonight.

To avoid takeaways I keep in some Chinese style curry sauce powder in. Mix that up with onion, peas & chicken & that's a Chinese chicken curry. We had that last night after dh came back from taking the older 2 to a firework display.

I feel for the animals at this time of the year. Personally I think fireworks on sale to the general public should be banned. Displays only. Plus, how on earth do people afford then, they're really expensive!

Ok, will go now & start my day. Better later than never!

Kids back to school to or row so normal routine will return!

    Love (((hugs))) & spoons x

We had a dreadful night with Molly and Poppy as the twits that are my neighbours had some very large fireworks in their relatively small garden. They also were very slow at letting them off so the dogs had just stopped salivating and panting when another loud bang occurred. This went on till late last night. We awoke this morning to find the remains of two huge rockets on our doorstep. Hubby restrained me from wobbling round to theirs and posting them back through the letterbox along with a bag of poo that poor Poppy did in the kitchen as she was so frightened! And breathe.........
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Off out for lunch courtesy pf Groupon today, nice chilled out day.

Molly - hope the dogs are okay. I'm glad we let guns off around Bram when he was a pup so he's not fazed by fireworks. The hoover though.... scariest thing ever!

Luckily fireworks and bangs don't seem to bother my dogs. I had a beautiful display of them through my computer room window last night.

Grandbaby has gone home with his Mummy. He was a pleasant little soul.

Hubby has gone off to do some electrics on daughters house. I'm going to get stuck into the vacuuming. Ive got a mini pile of paperwork to go through too.

    Have a good day all,
