OS Daily Thread for Sunday 3rd November 2013

OS Daily Thread Sunday 3rd November 2013. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Safe journey Donny xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

¡Hola! Buenas Dias

Awake a little early today, so thought I would get us all started. We have had to put a throw on with the sheet, so winter is on its way here :o. Still equivalent to a UK summer, but our time is running out, we start the trip back on Wednesday :cry: In a way glad to see everyone at home, at the same time sad to leave the weather behind. It has been an exceptionally hot autumn.

Just a word of warning to any of you who use Facebook
Cryptolocker Is a new type of Malware which locks your files then asks for a ransom to open them. It is thought it is spread via Facebook, please be careful on opening any mails with attachments friends haven't told you they have sent, mails from theoretically reputable companies such as Fed-Ex, UPS, Microsoft, often saying you have a parcel to track, and clicking and sharing some of the sob stories about. Do not open these emails. These folk are totally ruthless, and at the moment being "improved" to get get work and all drives not just the c: drive. This is not a hoax.
Please ensure you have a backup of important files, photos, etc., make sure your virus and malware protection are up to date, and you have the latest version of your Internet program, and be careful.

Out for lunch today at a caravanning friends, who also has a place out here. Will call in near the Mar Menor to give Skye a good walk beforehand, so she sleeps while she we talk. More washing today to catch up and leave everything clean. Looking at the forecast for the winter, think January sounds a good time to sneak back.

Take care everyone, ((hugs)), Spoons & Positive Vibes all round. DG

Morning all,

thanks for the warning about Facebook DG. I must admit ive had some pretty authentic emails supposedly from Paypal too. Hubby had one too saying his account was being limited and to log into his account using the link provided.... well you can guess the rest. He nearly fell for it too. They seem to be getting better at spelling these days.

I'm up bright and early. I didn't sleep well last night. Too much wisdom at at bed time I think (plus the fact ive got three snoring bodies in my bedroom).

Had words with hubby yesterday over Christmas (yes its getting to this time of year). It appears despite paying for Christmas for the last 7 years, he wants me to contribute again this year. Fair enough but I told him but if he thinks i'm contributing whilst he sends his sister and her family gifts when they cant be bothered to send us Christmas cards and his sister couldn't be arsed to send him a birthday card this year I told him he could whistle. Apart from that, he refuses to send a cash donation to my eldest daughter in South Africa. Its Soldiers birthday soon and of course its Christmas coming up. It appears that if he doesn't agree with her life choices and sexuality she doesn't deserve anything. Ive always sent her a little something on her birthday and Christmas but since ive given up my biggest source of income. I'm barely earning enough to clothe myself.

Anyway, less of my moans. Daughter number 2 is coming at 9 as she is going to the gym and i'm having Grandbaby for a couple of hours. Hope he's in the pleasant mood he was in last time I had him as the few times before he was a right little grump.

Looking forward to tomorrow when hubby is at work and i'm assuming 'Youngest' is back at college (or have they got another week?). Anyway, looking forward to Monday.:T

Have a good day all,

I had lots of bottles of shampoo, etc. with just a bit left in each, I've sorted and decanted. It's surprising how much was there, should last us a while. And I now have lots of shelf space :D

I was determined to get my poinsettias right, I was going to keep what I'd already made but I had a play around yesterday and came up with a much better one. We are off to DD1's for lunch today so no cooking for me once breakfast is done.
I'ts windy here but not raining at the moment, that will come later.
I have a carrier bag of bra's all too big for me, any ideas what I can do with them apart from the CS?
I'm about 5 ins into DGS's Minion hat and as I'm a slow knitter I'm quite pleased with that.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning.
Just checkin everyone ok whilst I have my brew.

All the fence type things are all over the road from where they dug up yesterday... I suspect this is from people from the pub rather than the wind!

Off to a cheer leading comp today but slightly mad as I told girls to get their stuff ready last night and they haven't.

Have a good day all.

Morning all,

Bright and sunny here atm might get rain later on though, I am off to work all day finish at 5 so wont get to see much of the day anyway, they have asked me to go in on a supervisors role so i hope if all goes well that it might lead to better things for me.

Hester there are several charities that will take old bras, round here they were collecting for a dogs home ( I think they recycle them) google it there might be someone in your area doing the same.

OH is in charge of cooking today I think its omlette and wedges, he also needs to hang the 2nd door in the bedroom, its all taken a back seat with the funeral going on, but its too cold in there without a door now, still no heating on here, will try to hang on for a little while.

Have good days all xx

Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudless clear sky, sun shining, but no doubt there will be a nip in the air here this morning. Washing ready to go out on the line shortly.

DH and myself up enjoying a cuppa and the peace and quiet before boys emerge from their pits - but no doubt that won't be for a while yet.

Dinner last night was gammon steaks, egg, onion sauce, mash, peas and mushrooms. Today we will be having roast chicken with all the trimmings. Really pleased we didn't succumb to an expensive take-away.

Visited the outlaws and my parents yesterday - so today will be a chilled, stay at home day. DH has a little DIY job to do this morning, it shouldn't take too long. He'll be going for a bath in a mo, once he's in the bath I'll go for a shower, and then I'll start prepping the lunch - it's 1 of my favourite jobs - Sunday morning in the kitchen listening to Radio 1 Love Songs whilst cooking. Will also organise the pack-ups for tomorro - so at least the last part of the weekend is not spent running round trying to get everything done. Remembered to get the chocolate butter cream made and in the chocolate cake - so menfolk have something in the tins aswell as mince pies.

Have a couple of jobs on the pc to do that I must get done either today or tomorrow night - so will endeavour to get those done too.

Back to work tomorrow for me, it'll be a manic Monday as it's the start of the month - at least it makes the day go quicker.

Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone,

Donny Have a safe journey home.

Redruby Hugs.

Molly, LW Hugs for you too.

We had a really windy night here last night, I will walk to church through the park and survey the damage.

Had a lovely meal out (curry, my favourite) with OH all the children and MIL last night, the waiter came and asked me how long I had been vegetarian as I ALWAYS order vegetarian food there (I do go about once a month)
I am not actually vegetarian but DD2 and I seem to be eating a lot more vegetarian food recently, I may consider a vegetarian week and see how I get on.

Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Morning :)

Just back from a Parkdean caravan break in South Wales. It rained almost constantly so we spent a fair bit of time in the club house. The entertainment was OUTSTANDING and I would highly recommend it. I wasn't expecting more than a couple of activities for the kids but the evening shows were really good and put some of this years X Factor contestants to shame. Really, really impressed and already looking to book again.

Chicken breasts defrosted for roast yesterday, dog pinched raw potatoes off the side and half ate them so need to grab some more!! Have got some carrots and tinned sweetcorn ... so roast kinda in hand.

Contents of both DD's bedrooms in mine as theirs have been decorated. They're having new carpet put down but not for at least another week so there's no point in putting all the stuff back in only to take it out again. DD's are "camping" in their bedrooms on lilo's and loving every minute :)

As far as flying is concerned - I really feel like I'm banging head on brickwall sometimes. DD's are 10 and 12 and little whirlwinds!! Am going to copy and paste last weeks flying in to a word doc and mark on names for who's responsible for doing what and stick it up somewhere and hopefully as a team we can stay on top of things. I always have the best of intentions *sigh*

No idea what's going on in everyone's lives as have not been on here for so long but hopefully some people still remember me :) I will try and catch up a little at some point but hope everyone and their loved ones are well and sending big hugs to those who want/need them.

Luv J x
