OS Daily Thread Friday 1st November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all

Well last night was a disaster. Asda delivery never turned up!! They also didn't even phone to tell me. I had to chase them 3 times! So will be chasing them again at 7.

Dinner tonight is anyones guess now! Pasta bake probably.

Supposed to go out for OHs friends birthday tonight. I don't really fancy it so may just drop OH off and pick him up. I have work tomorrow and could do with saving my pennies.

    Hugs to all!

Guess who got woken up by next door getting ready for work, aargh.
JackieO, lovely to see you back, sorry about the virus.
Plans for today include moving the sofa's and vacuuming behind them, going to the butchers and collecting paperwork from the Dr's.
We went into town y'day and it was heaving, took ages to get there as Thames Water have one of the roads in, closed off, but the shops were heaving too, I thought there was a recession on, we were both glad to get out and get home. I managed to get the yarn to knit the minions for DGS so I'm a happy bunny.
We had loads of trick or treaters round but they finished about 8:30, even the local teens had made and effort to dress up, and no one said 'Hello Miss' so my costume worked and no one recognised me.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Gonzo, I have a S'bugs order due tomorrow, first time I've used them so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope you have better luck than me Hester! Terrible as it's who OH works for!! Have a right mind to just cancel the order and go else where.

AND the first guy I spoke to told me that they were running 1 1/2 hours behind! I shall be asking for my money back I think!

Morning all, dark mornings are a bit grim now aren't they. Last day of the half term and I have to take the boys all to the dentists for their 6 month check-up this morning. No problems though as they are all used to going and never kick off or make a fuss. Then its back home for lunch and maybe the cinema this afternoon, depends whats on really.
My eldest DD is home from her trip to the U.S and her OH has an interview for a promotion job today.I have my fingers crossed as its a pretty good rise and he has been doing the acting managers job for the past few months.
I have so much stuff to sort out now my computer is back working again I may leave it until next week when I can concentrate more as the children will be back at school and I'll have a bit more time.
Hope everyone has had a good half term week and not spent too much cash :):)
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I have 2 very hungry and thirsty kittens here as they are going to the vets at 8.45 to be neutered. At the moment they are rampaging around the house looking for food . If you even take a step towards the kitchen they try and trip you up in their haste to get there before you and then sit there with piteous mewing when they realise breakfast is not forthcoming. Oh well, I'm sure they will have other things to think about in a couple of hours :rotfl::rotfl:.

I took the girls to Plymouth aquarium on Wednesday and my legs are still recovering. They had a great time especially DD13 as she is obsessed with sharks. I am a bit scared of fish truth be told but it was worth it to see the girls so happy. I just wish it wasn't such a long way to travel. We left just before 9am and got back at 9pm. I was very thankful to have put a lamb casserole in the slow cooker before we left.

We had hundreds of trick ot treaters last night, the girls went out with my grandchildren and came back with a huge stash of sweets. Our estate really goes to town at Halloween and we get loads of kids from different areas coming round here specially. I made sure I had plenty of sweets and we do still have a few left so I will share them out between the girls once they've eaten their loot.

I don't have a clue what to make for tea tonight. I'm leaning towards getting a chinese but we'll see. I have to part with over a £100 at the vets today so we will see plus it's my hubby's birthday on Sunday and we are going out to lunch. Actually, I think we'd better have beans on toast for tea tonight :D.

Well that's all my waffle for today. Hope everyone enjoys their Friday. Take care and gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    White rabbits! :D

Everyone is still asleep , I've been up ages and I really wanted a lie in

The cat and the piggies are fed , I've cleaned the kitchen and I'm having a cuppa

tru I've made a few of those poppies , I think they are lovely although mine don't look quite like the ones in the picture , but they are poppyish , so it will do . :D

DD1 is coming home this weekend :j she has been poorly with a chest infection so some TLC is in order for her

We had one trick or treater last night , a little witch she was lovely , I think the kids tend to go on the nearby estate , so I have a surplus of sweets

Have a good day everyone xxx

    Morning all,

Damp and drizzly here, I am off to work so it wont affect me much. DD was out last night dressed up as a zombie I think to she will be home at some point today, its her turn to cook tonight, chilli rice and wraps.

Mum and sis are going to try and collect the ashes again today, I do understand that they have to be very careful, it was the persons attitude I didd't like, they will be getting a complaint !

Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer.

    Have good days all xx

RR - That's very poor and very insensitive of the staff. Big hugs.
JackieO - Glad to see you back, you've been missed.
HH - I think a phone call is in order, that's a terrible way to treat staff.

Washing up to date, house a tip and I don't care at the moment. The moving date of next Friday is slipping away, my present neighbour is the purchaser's Solicitor and appears to be making things very difficult for me. We haven't particularly got on with them (mainly since she tried to run over my OH) so I think it's their revenge.

Amyway, no point in getting miserable, we will move some time, just probably not next week! Going to a ladies night tonight, something I have avoided all my life as it really isn't my thing but maybe a night out will be enough to cheer me up! DD will meet me there after work and give me a lift home so I may have a glass of red. Neither of us are looking forward to it but it's for charity.

Made a lovely chicken curry last night with a jar of sauce/spice from Ald!, I was very impressed.

Clouds racing across the sky this morning, I'm sure it will rain very soon, it always does here!!

    Take care. XX
