Hi all
Have you had an especially long or short engagement for financial reasons?
Eg did you have to put off getting married while you saved up?
We'd love to know how long you were engaged before you got married.

Could you do with a Money Makeover?

0 - 6 months10 weeks. Didn't need a fancy do, just had a simple wedding with friends and family all helping: we really wanted to be married once the decision was taken and there was no reason to wait. A very very happy, inexpensive day (well, half day).I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

0 - 6 monthsWeddings do not need to be tens of thousands of pounds... people do not need to be engaged for years to save for the wedding.
It's a self imposed delay.:hello:0 -
6 - 12 monthsEngaged in November, dress bought by mid December, venue, flowers and photographer finalised in Feb/March ready for September 14th.........
April, two days before my first dress fitting, we were over, courtesy of a shiny new colleague of his
ETA: perfect venue, perfect dress and the rest all organised within 5 monthsI have a simple philosophy:
Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.

0 - 6 monthshow about a "didnt get engaged" option? We were married within a year of meeting but there was no engagement in the traditional sense.0

1 - 2 yearsGot engaged in Dec 2010 married 18 months later June 2012. I wanted to have time to plan and find the right dress plus have the venue we wanted not the one we had to. Really enjoyed our engagement but not as much as our marriage so far

0 - 6 monthsGot married within 6 months, but we had discussed getting married the month we did for a previous 6 months, just needed to get the ring to get going with the planning. We did discuss waiting another year, it's our parents who insisted we did it then.
We both agreed that it was the right thing to do. 6 months was more than enough to plan and we just about managed to pay for it without borrowing money. It meant that everything was fresh and exciting and made it magical for all that time. I think waiting longer and I would have lost the momentum.0 -
0 - 6 monthsJust under 6 months, but weddings didn't get planned so far in advance back then, so we managed to book everything, order the dress etc with no problems. In fact the register office would only let us book 3 months in advance, so everything else was a just a provisional booking until then.0
