do you think it would be better to say
'that I parked in the Grahams part of the car park as I need to nip to the town to run a few errands it was my intention to visit Wickes upon my return but when I saw that I had received a parking notice I just headed for home as I was so upset.' or i was just browsing.
.
Is it worth mentioning that I have parked here for a number of years, I am appealing to his good nature after all aren't I. I am not fighting this with rules and regs like I will have to if I go down the POPLA route.0 -
No. Just follow what was suggested. (They won't know anyway).0

Right Guys
Another update.
I followed your fab advice regarding the ticket and got this better than expected reply from Wickes.
Not only has the invoice been cancelled I am also getting vouchers by way of an apology - RESULT
Here is my email from them
Good Morning Mrs J S,
My name is **** ******, Regional Operations Manager for Wickes in the Yorkshire Region.
I have been contacted by *** ******* this morning who has informed me that you have been issued with a parking ticket whilst parked in the car park at our Halifax store.
Can I first of all sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you have been caused by this and confirm that the ticket has been cancelled with immediate effect and that no payment will be required. We do have issues with the car park being used by members of the public who park for the day and for that reason we have the car park monitored but clearly on this occasion a mistake has been made for which I once again must apologise.
Could I also apologise for any incorrect information you have been given regarding who is responsible for the car park and I have spoken to Mike about this, who you spoke to in the store.
I would really like to apologise to you by phone Mrs J S if you would be kind enough to e mail me your contact telephone number or contact me directly on my mobile number which is listed below. Could I also trouble you for your home address details as I would like to forward you on some Wickes vouchers as a gesture of goodwill. It is always our intention to offer the best possible service we can and particularly to our regular and loyal customers.
I hope that this goes some way to rectifying the situation and look forward to hearing from you and continuing to be of service.
Many thanks,
Thanks again, I have been telling all my friends how brilliant you (and wickes) are.0 -
Well done you!
My ticket in the exact car park is here:

I got no joy from the store, but have submitted a strong POPLA appeal thanks to the members on here.
Following your success, I may just follow your lead and do the same!0 -
Brilliant news, one for coupons hall of fameWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Wow, got to say Wickes take the prize for the best apology and vouchers too! Almost worth getting a fake PCN for!
I know it's been posted about on the sticky thread but for posterity, I am about to add your thread as a link for others to follow in post #2 here:

Would you believe that's the first VCS one I have posted there. Excel - the sister firm from the same Renshaw-Smith 'stable' - appear there already though!
:T Nice work to you and to the CEO of Wickes! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Worth a try MIB 150. You have nothing to lose.
It's must be so frustrating for you that your situation has gone on for so long and mine is finished in 5 days. I didn't expect such a positive outcome the people at Wickes obviously genuinely do care about their customers well beyond store manager level they do.
I saw your thread and thought it must have been the same car park as our descriptions are too similar and guess what they still don't have entrance signs as I took my photo's only 3 days ago, they are obviously receiving lots of revenue from people who are just paying up.
It's a joke.
Good luck, Will keep my eye on your thread see how you get on.0 -
