4x4 2WD the same as any other not 4x4 car?

No wonder OP is confused, the current adverts for the cheapest Dacia Duster describe it as a 4x2, and I'm pretty sure they're not using rhyming slang.0

I had Kumho All-Weather tyres on an e46 a few years ago and they were little better than summer tyres.
The latest generation of winter tyres are unbelievable - they have really moved the goal-posts. I have a set of Conti TS830Ps which seem to do very well in all the tests.
I know, the Sportage in that picture is fitted with a set of Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes. That, and the high ground clearance, make it highly mobile in the snow.0 -

I'm sure that 4x2 is the correct description for that Dacia - but if 4 wheels are not enough you could always go for a 6x4. :rotfl:
No need for Air Conditioning or Climate Control either.
The OP's OH might genuinely prefer this model - note the handy positioned all-important shovel plus the other toys it has as standard:

Noooooooo!!!!!:eek::eek:
DO NOT show him this!!!:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
It's the size of our garden by the way.
There isn't enough space for parking as it is, my neighbours might egg my house if I parked there with that...0 -
That looks about as comfy as a defender!, if my numbers ever come up I want one of these sat in the drive.0 -

Easy to park one of them.
You either winch the neighbour out of the way or quite literally - park on top of them.
The big question is though.... does it need winter tyres? What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

How much would it be for that size of winter tyres??
And forget about the tyres... what if you drive into a ditch? Who is going to pull you out?? :rotfl:0 -
I drive an AWD Volvo XC70 with All Session Tyres and it was fine last winter (I live in the country, up a hill which 2WD cars can't get up once we get some snow).
You can buy 2WD Volvo XC70's but I just don't see the point, the only reason is to save money (mpg, servings etc) so just buy a V70....
However, you don't have to buy an Off Road Style car to get AWD, a lot of standard cars can be bought in AWD format (ie Audi)...0
