Safety feature*.
Stops you window shopping and makes you concentrate on the road.
Functionality first seen in the Ford Scorpio

Is it bad I quite like look of Yeti's even though I don't like SUVs. I would say
Rwdrive<2wd on standard wheel<4x4 on standard tyres<2wd on winter tyres<4x4 on winter tyres.0 -

I would say though that the correct tyres for any occasion far out perform any technology.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
Skoda Octavia 4x4. Best of both worlds: running costs of a car, but has 4x4 for the times you need it (ie, going up hill and around a corner on a frosty morning..)0

Type of vehicle = off roader, or maybe soft roader
Driven wheels - 4WD, 4x4, 2WD
My wife's car is four wheel drive, but it is NOT an off roader!0 -
Your budget puts you nicely into a Subaru Forester, of which there is a Diesel version.
Full time 4WD, simple proper system that has stood the test of time almost unchanged, so benefits you the other 350 odd days when it doesn't snow with precise unstickable grip.0
