The problem is that even after the EU sort this out, it won't regulate calls to non-EU/EEA territories such as the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. However, based on the precedent of most UK mobile networks voluntarily applying EU roaming price caps to roaming in these Crown dependencies, it is possible that UK mobile networks will voluntarily do the same again.0

Not quite free, as there isn't wifi everywhere, and mobile data may have some cost.0 -
Do any other companies offer free calls e.g Orange ?0

Virgin mobile is now the only network that includes Isle of Man within the inclusive minutes and texts.0

Just as a little update. Just found the following in the O2 "latest pay monthly mobile agreement" - available at http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/mobile/our-latest-pay-monthly-mobile-agreement
5.3 You can end this Agreement without having to pay the Monthly Subscription Charges up to the end of any Minimum Period you have left, if: (a) we notify you of an increase to your Monthly Subscription Charges by more than the published Retail Price Index (RPI) annual inflation rate at the date we announce the applicable price increase; or (b) we increase any of our Charges (apart from for Additional Services) in a way that such increase would have increased your total bill for the immediately previous month by more than 10% (if the increase(s) had applied for the whole of that month).
Most important part being that if any increases they put in place would have increased your previous months bill by more than 10% then you can end the agreement early. Just looked at my last 2 months bills. 2 months ago it would have gone up by about £50 and last month by about £13 so think I will be contacting O2 ASAP!!
I'm in the similar situation as you. For the past 3 months my calls to 07 numbers were consistent and once the prices are put up this will cost me 40% of my line rental based on the past 3 months consistently. However after speaking to o2 CS i have been fobbed off saying that the 5.3b does not apply here as the increase was not to the service but to a free inclusive entitlement.
could you please update the thread on how you get on? Also could you please share template of the letter you sent to o2??
thanks in advance.0 -
I too have the same issue with O2. They have included Jersey, Guernsey and IoM within the inclusive minutes at least since I have had a contract with them (2005).
Their customer services were hopeless and couldn't offer anything other than the "bolt on" which would still cost me an extra £30 on top of my normal bill just for exactly the same service!
The best thing they could suggest was to write a formal complaint to their customer services, so please, everyone, write emails about this subject to:

Can someone please share a template they communicated with o2 on this please?0

Has anyone managed to resolve their issues with o2 on this? My contract was renewed in April this year and I have been told my customers services that my contract can't be downgraded or any bolt ons added free of charge to accommodate the change that has been made from Dec 4th. I currently live in Leeds but grew up in the Isle of Man so have several friends and family members still living over there!
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!0 -
Your potential increase is inclusive minutes multiplied by rate per minute.
e.g. on O2 200 it is £70 per month. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
