Probably one of the most readily available places are Mcdonalds burger places, i find that you can connect ok frm the carpark without having to go in and purchase any cra* in a bap.
You can download a list of Wifi spots from here :

Yes thats just a list of access points, but If you have a Wetherspoons voucher you can use them at those places.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

I also work for Spoons and I've only ever been asked for one of these cards while working in one of the biggest pubs they have. I've now been transferred to a newer, smaller pub and we don't have any but I have ordered some in. I also emailed the link to this page to the area manager suggesting he get everyone to order some and he has forwarded to his boss to discuss at the next high honchos gathering at head office.
If you ask for a voucher and are met with a blank look then please ask for the manager. There is a lot of important stuff to train new staff on so perhaps the wifi vouchers were forgotten, and if they've never been asked for one they might not realise we do it.0 -
Just a quick survey of the weatherspoons & Lloyds pubs in Taunton & neither of them had the Wifi working.
The staff also said that it had been very unreliable & was rarely working. Anyone else had a similar experience or is it just localised to Taunton?
Not a bad cappucino for 99p though.0 -

I have a feeling that the Porridge Pot pub in Warwick has free wifi access. The network came up as PUBLIC so it was either from there or the Express Inn next door. Nice carvery too for under a tenner!...and then the window licker said to me...0

Quite a lot of places near me (Brighton&Hove) do free wi-fi all the time, not just for 30 minutes. Recently I was changing B/Band providers and as usual they were screwing it up so I ended up offline for about 2 weeks. I found there were quite a few places I could use. One pub near me I used a lot was connected even when the pub was shut, so I'd often find myself outside in the car with my thermal cup of tea, like some futuristic TV detector man...
The idea of having to sit in Wetherspoons fills me with dread and I think I'd rather send a telegram than email someone from that place.0 -
If you are a Skype subscriber (free), you can sign up for a Skype Zones account. Per month unlimited it will cost US$7.95 (£4.00) - or less than 1 1/2 pints at London prices!
It's meant to be used for Skype phone calls through public WiFi networks but it works just as well for e-mails and surfing. Coverage is world-wide ../URL]
Fantastic tip. Just signed up for £4 /month unlimited, and am currently browsing from cafe nero.

I heard a story a couple of years ago, when Wetherspoons where just rolling out their WiFi, that they'd turned it off in a number of pubs due to customers surfing for !!!!!! and being see by other customers in the pub.
Bit of an overreaction, why not just drop a pint on the guys laptop!0
