B and Q blackout blinds

I think you would struggle with the "not fit for purpose" angle, they are as designed, not faulty and perform the function they were intended for.0

Thanks all for your comments - especially Azari - gave me a giggle. Well I have spoken to a lovely lady at the returns dept who agreed that they sounded awful and she wouldn't have tham, and so she is arranging to have them picked up and a full refund given.
Now I need to find some more (that are burgundy/red on both sides!) Does anyone have any suggestions - I will have a look on ebay.
Thanks

Not at all.
Part of the 'purpose' or a product is whether or not it is practically usable. There are many things that a product must not do, even if none of them are stated.
If you bought a black raincoat that was completely waterproof but turned lime green with mauve stripes when it got wet if would not be fit for purpose because you could not use it in the rain without looking like a complete idiot.
Similarly an item that will necessarily be displayed on your home cannot reasonably be fit for purpose if you cannot use it for the purpose it was purchased for because it makes your house look ridiculous. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
these blinds are not fit for purpose
Are these Blinds?
Can These Blinds be Hung?
I expect the answer to these are Yes, so they are Fit for Purpose
Blackout blinds are designed as a thicker material to standard blinks with a pattern/main colour printed on 1 side, just like curtains where the main pattern will be only on 1 side only0 -

you could try http://www.blindsuk.net/blackout.html. i have blackout blinds from them for my darkroom. but ask them if the colour is on both sides before buying0 -

By that argument then you may as well make absolutely no effort at all on the presentation of the outside of your house as you can't see it when you're inside your house.
If you want your house to look nice then its not acceptable to have blinds that look terrible if you're standing outside the house. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If you have a dunelm mill near you I'd recommend going there. We bought our black out blinds from them and they were great. We had cream blinds, which were cream both sides.0

Rubbish.
By that logic they would be fit for purpose if they were semi-transparent.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Homebase do coloured black out blinds (coloured on both sides), I have used them in the past.
If you are going for cheap ones, you'll generally find they will be shiny on one side. Pay a bit extra if you want them to look better. And if you want to be certain, buy them from a shop where you can see what you're ordering.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Not liking the colour in one side does not mean a blind is not fit for purpose. It's purpose is to go up & down and stop the light.0
