B and Q blackout blinds

I currently have Tesco blackout blinds on all my windows. They were cheap as chips when bought 5 years ago (about £100 for the whole house - 9 windows). They are self couloured front and rear and have been great.
They were starting to get a bit tatty, so I decided to change the colour and order new ones - the colour I want is from B and Q (red). I bought them online at the beginning of this month and decided today to start and have a go fitting them. On opening them however, I found that they are only coloured on one side?????? The other side is an awful plasticky white with a horrible nylon made in china label sewn on.
What use is this? You either have to have the colour facing inwards to mach your decor and have them look awful from outside, or have them looking lovely from outside, but with white plastic and a made in china label as your room decor.:mad::mad: Absolutely useless.
Luckily they have a 45 day returns policy so I can take them back, but I have wasted an hour or two today sorting and getting out my tools, clearing the lounge so I had room to cut them to size and taking the old ones down. I now have the job of putting the old ones back!

So you are complaining because you did not check the blinds before getting out your tools and removing the old ones.
would it not have been easier to check the new blinds before taking the old ones down, if anything to make sure everything was their ( fittings etc.)0 -
No, I didn't take one out to check, as the fittings are at the end of the packaging tube, so took these out to fit leaving the blind in the tube to protect it until needed.
That, however is immaterial, the point is that these blinds are not fit for purpose as no matter which way round they are hung, they will have an unacceptable side either facing the street or my room. I have just re checked the website and the packaging and nowhere does it say it is only coloured on one side.

I know it must be frustrating but we have got so used to things not being right that we always check when we first buy something that it is ok.
We recently put up 6 blinds and opened every one up to check that they were ok, not damaged etc and that all the fittings were there before we started.
We bought them in Argos and they came in a box so you could not see what they looked like. The young guy got into trouble for opening one up for us to have a look at because he had to take the cellophane off. I said to the SA that how can you buy something without knowing what it looks like and what was the point of their system where they get it out for you to view before you buy it if you cannot see it!!0 -
I've only ever seen blackout blinds with the colour on one side and white on the other except all black ones, it's not that B&Q are selling different to most places but the Tesco ones were different to the norm.0

Oh my goodness! I have 7 (expensive) made to order roman blinds in my house. Have just realised that anybody outside and all my neighbours can see lining material with no pattern. What a terrible neighbour I am.
Oh no! All of the curtains are lined with normal material too, and not pretty colours or patterns. I feel like burning my house down in despair!!!
:rolleyes:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Surely it only matters that the colour faces into the room to match? Who cares if it's white when looking from outside?0

I bought one from Ebay and it was brown both sides, so they are available. And yes it is blackout type. At least with Ebay you can ask seller a question and they should be able to tell you one way or the other.0

What a strange person you are? lining material is exactly that - a material, usually something like cotton or linen in a neutral colour like cream or beige. The reverse sides of these blinds were shiny white plastic with a large 'made in china' label on them situated in a place that you could not remove without causing damage. I'm sure you wouldn't have found that acceptable on your 'made to order roman blinds'

Just ignore her, Olias.
Some people don't seem to understand the concept that just because they are not bothered about something does not mean that no one else should be bothered about it either.
It's evidence of a level of autism spectrum disorder. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I am with you.
I would not want to drive up to my house and see shiny white plastic up at my windows either.0
