Remember its a foreign country so even if your rights may be that you get the hotel for the price. If you turn up in Cape Verde and they refuse to honour your booking you are going to be in a bit of a pickle!

Consumer rights although important pale into significance when the reality is you're sleeping on the beach in Cape Verde!

Normally the contract is concluded once you receive the travel documents ( this is not the email confirmation)

Have you paid already, or just a deposit?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

If it was sent by the booking company then i would say yes, but as others state it is ain a foreign country so they may refuse if the payment they have does not cover the accommodation

BEWARE! You really don't want to turn up and find you've got to pay £200/night!! The Mrs/Mr will be gutted if the luxury all-inclusive deal you booked leaves you scrabbling around for 2* digs ;-)

That said, there are some belting out of season deals to be had - filling spaces on empty last planes of the season, hotel about to close for winter, all-inclusive cut back to a bowl of warm pasta once a day ;-)

Also, remember not all 5* hotels are equal - have you checked tripadvisor that it is actually at 5* quality? I know some 5*'s that are self-certified and much more like a Uk 2-3*. Just worth checking ;-)
  • Why not e mail the hotel directly saying that you have a booking reference XXXX and would like to request a room on a high/low floor or near/far from the elevator if that is possible.

See what the response is when they reply.
