Any problems registering with 1899?

Persuaded daughter to sign up with 1899 so she can use the 0808 number as she's on Telewest. So she signed up using their web site on Friday (22nd).
Three days later and she's received no email acknowledgement or query and (at the last attempt) her number wasn't recognised to allow her to start using the service.
Is this normal or has something gone wrong????

Usually the problem in registering with 1899 is a "full capacity" email that is received but I don't know when that email is received.
Try signing up again using a mobile number and if that works then go back into the account and add in the landline0 -
Thanks Edinburghlass,
We'll maybe try that if we don't hear anything soon. My daughter is a bit concerned about giving her credit card details again to a company which hasn't responded.
(By coincidence we are trying to register an Edinburgh land line number!)Nice to save.0 -
Perhaps someone who has signed for 1899 can tell us as I have only signed for 18866 and it was 18 months ago but I understood the email "accepting" you was fairly instantaneous.0

Yes, when I signed up for both 18866 and 1899 some 16+ months ago, the emails were received within a minute or two. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Of course there is nothing to stop you signing up for 18866 as well, although slightly dearer still cheaper than Telewest, then revert to using 1899 once you can get it up and running0

Thanks for the feedback. My memory is that signing up only took me minutes so I'm not sure what has gone wrong with her registration. Seems there must have been some problem just with her session as no-one else seems to be reporting difficulties.
I'll suggest that she signs up with 18866 as well, though she is still a wee bit concerned that her cc details have diasappeared into the ether along with all the 1899 registration details.
Thanks again.Nice to save.0 -

Usually an email does get sent quickly.I have received today a letter from Telewest indicating a price change from July. The good news is that on the standard package(from July for me) any local or national rate calls I make at the weekends are free.(that calls starting 01 and 02.Of course mobile ,international, internet and non geo are excluded)So I will not need to use 1899 at weekends.Of course the rest of the week....bring it on.Wow with all the money your daughter's saving she can buy you chocolates and flowers every week0 -

Thanks again.
It sounds to me that she has in fact never signed up "properly" (not saying it was her fault but obviously a problem with 1899). So she doesn't have an account number nor ever had a bill?
Two choices I would think. First you could be a nice Daddy/Mummy and add her number to your account and then sort out payment when the bill comes in. Big disadvantage to that for her is you would be able to view who she is phoning and when
Second would be to sign up again, this time using a debit card if she has one and a mobile number. Once the acceptance has come through with an account number etc she could change the card and add in her landline number.
Did you/she ever actually email 1899 regarding this?0 -
Thanks everyone for the helpful info.
I've forwarded the link to this thread to my daughter and so I guess she can both get help with her problem and find out what her dad gets up to on the web!
(Well, at least the bits he admits to!!!!!)Nice to save.0 -
Hi, why not try and use the 1899 service and see whether it would work from the landline registered. If successful then the registration has gone through and you will only need to phone their special phone number to get the membership (account) number.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0
