Cost of drinks and Food on Budget airlines and Charter flights

There is usually a Boots store in the departure terminal, we get some of their meal deals for the flight, Drink, Sandwich/wrap & treat for a bargain price :-)0

On short and medium haul, I get something in the terminal before I get on the plane; usually taking it on board the aircraft with me - I've done Burger King (12 hours delay, and boy was it good!), Boots, Pret, and I seem to remember one of the bars at Manchester doing us a carry out of food as it took over an hour to come.
I find Thomas Cook to be quite generous with their sizes, Thomson to be disorganised and second the warm water comment.0 -

It is usually pretty poor, expensive and sometimes in short supply. To be fair there are very limited facilitieson board to prepare food. We do bite the bullet and buy a coffee but the quality can vary. Lomg Haul flight are a different story as you have to eat.
Same here. I can't remember the last time that I bought something to eat on a short haul flight. Surely most people can go a few hours without something to eat? For 1-2 hours I'll just take a bottle of water with me. Any longer and I may buy some nibbles at the airport.
I often see families who spend more on food on board than they may have spent on their tickets.0 -

It's exactly the same when you go to the Cinema, you're not there that long but some people have to start eating over priced snacks from the moment they sit down.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Does anyone know what meals are available on Air Transat flights to Canada?
I have read the website but would like any personal experiences0 -

Two points you must remember are the cooking facilities/microwaves on aircrafts are very limited and the airlines have a captive audience so they can charge what they like for very mediocre food. Also the choice is minimal. We usually make sandwiches before we leave home and take them on the filight with us. There is no restiction to taking sandwiches through security to the airside terminal then on board the aircraft. Whilst fluids are not allowed so we would purchase a bottle of water at Boots or the like once in the departure area. As for duty free drinks on board the aircraft that is a farce as they are more expensive than the high streets.0

It's not that goodChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
On short haul I would happily go without food and drink on a low cost flight. On a longer haul I prefer to go via a scheduled flight and so happily eat and drink what ever is included. I avoid alcohol on flights as it goes to your head much more readily. Less chance of getting diverted to an alternative airport as a result of drunkenness. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

When travelling on a charter flight or low cost airline we will normally buy a tea or coffee on board. It is usually drinkable and tad bit more expensive but the cost will not make us take out a loan. Food is a different issue only in extreme circumstances would we ever consider purchasing food on board. We will either take our own or buy a sandwich in the departure lounge. They are quite acceptable in purchase in the UK but some other airports in Europe from our experience the sandwiches can be a bit dodgy (very expensive, not always fresh, rubbery and tastless).0
