Well, in most normal part time jobs, no
Point is you are still eligible for tax if you do go over the limit though.
Yeah exactly, I know people who work for some large companies and get paid £3.93.
The tax threshold is £86-£92 a week - can't remember exactly. On minimum wage this would be approximately 26 hours, which would be two full days and a bit more.
I have part timers working for me who do about 12-16 hours at evenings, occasional days and they still get their EMA but they are working part time and living at home with their parents.0

the question is relevant, since it is odd that you can get EMA is you have left home and are on IS but not if you leave home and work. It is relevant since that WAS my original query !!
And it has been said that to earn £350 a month to live on she would not be able to study full-time as well therefore not entitled to EMA. you can work part time usually 10 or 12 hrs.
Income support is only paid in extreme circumstances, and if it it because you have moved away and she hasn't, that is not one of them, you will have to prove that ALL parental support has been ceased. Living in your house would = parental support. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

I am being torn between my teenage daughter refusing to come with me to plymouth and me needing to be in plymouth for many reasons. How dare you tell me that I should be prosecuted for neglect. I am not throwing her out I am litterally looking at her options. At 16 if she wants to leave home there is little I can do to stop her.
If she is to leave home then yes she has to find away to fund it. Perhaps she will come to her sences and realise that it is not feasible, but accusing me of neglect is so very far from the truth.
How dare you make me feel like rubbish mum when I have dont nothing but my best for my family.
I am not annoyed about the EMA not paying my mortgage. My mortgage os over £1000 a month £30 wont go very far. I am annoyed that if my daughter was to leave home that she would only get EMA if she refused to work, if she does work she will get nothing.
I sincerely hope that my comments have not made you feel like a rubbish mum, but surely you must see this situation of leaving her in Surrey is heading for even more trouble?0

meant to add to prove family relationships have broken down these days will involve mediation, hubby's aunt had to go through it when her son left home at 17 so he could get benefits. Also if the jobcentre decided to send her for a job there would be no choice but to drop the course. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

That is awful. I don't think people should just have to drop courses like that. The Benefits Agency should at least liaise with the College to see if the Student is actually benefitting from the Course, genuinly interested in it and actually has good prospects from continuing with it.0

The other problem was he was in "foyer" accomodation, which he was only eligable for while at college, so work = no home. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10
