Vienna, This means nothing to me
I would go for XP at the moment as their are not really any decent free firewalls, Antivirus or Spyware removal tools just yet for Vista , and being a tight wad myself I wouldnt want to chuck good money after bad and I would want a freebie.0 -

PC tools firewall isnt Vista compatable, it will install but doesnt detect incoming port scans correctly on vista, and spybot is ok for one sort of spyware but wont detect other sorts.0 -
Spyware use Defender, Spybot and Ad-aware. All run on Vista
AV - I use AVG runs fine
Firewall, currently using the built in firewall and waiting for ZA and Kerio to sort out their firewalls.
Regarding Vienna in 2009 I thought this was more of an updated version of Visat rather than a new OS. More like going from 95 to 98 rather than 98 to XP if you see what I mean? It's my problem, it's my problem

95 to 98 is a new OS!?! It's not going to be as big a change but it will have a lot of features that were originally intended for Vista. It will also be the successor to Windows Server 2008 as well as Vista."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes it is, I'm using it.
It works fine, keeps out attackers
It works fine on Utorrent
works with NOD32
it works.
no complaints.
the only spyware I've ever had is ad stuff that you usually see on the likes of torrentspy and myspace.
My PC is on 24/7

Well I seem to remember Microsoft selling 98 as a new operating system, even though it was really just 95 with some additional features. From what I've read about 'Vienna' that's what that will be, some additional features over Vista but not a completely but not a complete rewrite. It's my problem, it's my problem

Get Vista and try it out if you dont like it you can use the Vista product key/coa and downgrade to xp.0

Well although Vienna has been in development for a long time, it's nowhere near as long as Vista's been in development so I wouldn't really expect it to be a completely new OS from the ground up that Vista is. But I'm also presuming that since Server 2008 will also be its predecessor it will also be an amalgamation of two OSes which is quite a bit more than simply an updated Vista. Of course this is still quite a bit of speculation, even with any statements by MS, until the actual thing hits the shelves/system builders."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It was actually a dell license - slapped on the side of the PC because they can't sell a box OS free. But we reimaged them with 2000 because we didn't use XP at that time and when we finally moved, it was all done via SMS. So the keys were never used.
Anyway, back to the topic. Some asked if they are replacing vista in 2 years? I believe so and according to the MS chiefs shortly after the vista release their eventual goal is to have a new OS release every year. Wouldn't that be a great money spinner?Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0
