I have a water meter and my charges are over £40 a month). There are only 2 of us, we only shower never bath, only run the washing machine a couple of times a week and in general are economical with our water use. We have to pay 2 companies - Anglian and Essex & Suffolk0

do you have a meterNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

I want your other bills OP! We're on a meter and our water costs £21 a month.
It's our cheapest bill by a mile, apart from the TV license!
Monkeychops - yours sounds high. There's two of us, we rarely bath (both shower daily), washing machine runs 2-3 times a week and dishwasher runs about 4 times a week. We use the hose in the summer to water the garden. We're only paying Anglian Water (used to live somewhere with both AW and E&S) but I wouldn't have thought that having two suppliers means your bill should be double! I'd be getting the meter checked, and checking for leaks...0 -

Your lucky living in Anglican, if I lived there my bill would be half as they have a low user tariff.0 -

I've had the meter checked and been told it's fine and also checked for leaks and told there isn't any.
Our bills were actually higher but we have cut back as much as possible to get them to the amount they are now.0 -
I'm on SoLow under Anglia Water. You pay more for your water but no standing charge. It works well if you live alone as I do and are a low user. I've saved about £30 on each bill.0
