This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning, not been blown away!
Today is a day of cleaning. Dinner will be roast chicken as we had Novembers treat of a meal out yesterday. Chicken will need to make 3 meals - roast chicken, chicken stir fry and a soup. Hubby put together the I,ea wardrobes that we got second hand yesterday. They look great. I managed to freecycle some furniture that I got given. DS2 out at a football course today, DS1 will be home.
Loads to do, but I think I will start with porridge for the boys!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Morning Everyone
Just a quick post to let RR know we are thinking of her and her family today.
Hope everyone keeps safe with the weather.
Today we have a Street Party/Get Together out here, linking it to celebrating our Ruby Wedding next month, as we will be back with DS & F for that weekend, on our way home. Off to the Bodega & then the Supermarket, it kicks off at 4pm, hence my early appearance here.
(((hugs))), Spoons, Positive Vibes, grab your poison (G&T if you prefer or we do a nice line in red wine).
Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Loving thoughts for RedRuby and her family xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Thinking of you today Redruby.
Ok here in Kent at the moment. The south coast seems to be coming off worse than we are.
DH off to work in a minute along quite an exposed road so a bit worried.
Take care allCarolbee0 -
Morning everyone
RR- hope it all goes ok today, thinking of you and your family and friends x
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Wet and very very windy here, we are in line for the storm to hit us any time from now. The forecasters did say it would hit our area between 5-8am but they've now changed their minds and although it was breezy it certainly was the sort of storm they've been forecasting. We're now expecting it anytime soon! Wind has increased and we keep having heavy sudden downpours - so I'm sure we'll get our fair share. The South and South West of the country have certainly had a rough and stormy night.
DH up and getting ready for work, no stupid early start today.
Dinner yesterday finished up being battered turkey escalopes, with pasta in cheese sauce and mushrooms. Not sure what we will be having tonight, will organise something when I get in. Haven't really made any definite plans for dinner as we very often have power cuts when it's really windy/stormy/rainy so will just organise something when I get home from work depending on what power we have!
Weekend was lovely, just what I needed. Was really nice to get away - friends had already arrived on site when we got there and had a cuppa ready and we just got set up and then we jumped on the train and went to Greenwich and had a wander and then found a pub - spent lovely few hours just chilling and wandering. Went in the J****s deli store next door to the restaurant - was really disappointed, lovely place and stock was lovely but expensive and not that much choice. Went to the meeting on Saturday - had lunch in church cafe near where the meeting is held - everyone meets there, so it becomes a sea of faces you recognise - great to catch up with everyone. Threre's then a tea provided after the meeting, didn't think this year's was as good as past but was ok. We then just continued to wander and got back to train station jumped on train and we stopped off at the chippy near the station near where we were staying - picked up some chips and took them back to the caravan. Some of the others went for food in the city after the meeting but we weren't really that bothered - so us and our friends did our own thing. As forecast wasn't very good we got up and got packed up and got away decent time yesterday morning and looking at the forecast and how yesterday went we know we did the right thing. Had an excellent run home and got everything put away.
Back to work for me today, no doubt it will be a manic Monday or dead as no-one will want to go out - thinking it may well be really quiet this morning and then go mad this afternoon as it's supposed to calm down from lunchtime! We'll see, possibly be quiet today and a complete nightmare tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
The wind seems to have dropped here now, we've lost 2 fence panels, the greenhouse is trashed and the gazebo's damaged, but the house is ok and so are we, so the rest is unimportant. No doubt the neighbour who thinks she owns the alleyway that is lined by our fence will be round screaming and shouting, hey ho, she can eff & blind as much as she likes. She is a bully and I shall shout back. Hubby will sort the fence out today, but it won't be soon enough for her.
Thinking of you today RR.
I hope no one has suffered too much in the storm.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning!
Thinking of you RedRuby x
Woken up to the wind and sunshine. I can see a few neighbours fences are down, luckily mine is still standing. Just a few potted plants and lamps blown about the garden. Got to take DS2 to the dentist this morning - that should be fun.
Went to the outlet centre yesterday and DH bought himself a pasta machine. So guess what we had for dinner yesterday! Actually he made spinach pasta which was very nice.
Haven't decided what to do for tea tonight. Need to clean through later.
Have a good day everyone.0
