I have misplaced a hearing aid  I heard it drop on the LR carpet but b*gger me if I can find it. 'Bonnie's right ear hearing aid reveal yourself' vibes would be much appreciated :)

Hearing aid finding vibes. Am I the only Flylady who thinks that if you can hear something drop on a carpet your hearing is probably pretty good?!

I need to source some sloes with a bit of 'oomph'in them as the gin is looking rather sorry for itself.

There are NONE around here. The worst I've ever seen.
Have been reading these threads for ages but have never got involved. Going to make attempt this week to start fly ladying :)

    Welcome Happy Future!

One tree down on the Hoe. Oddly, it's neither particularly old or thin and it's surrounded by others that look a lot flimsier.

Can anyone advise how to deal with Scottish Power? We've been hounded by them for weeks after going over to another supplier and last week they sent us a refund cheque together with a letter saying we don't owe them anything, after all. This morning they've sent us a Final Notice and told us they are going to instruct a Doorstep Collection Agent to visit us. It's just bizarre.
    Better is good enough.

Made a good start. Dusting done in the hall and lounge started but gs3 is here at the moment so will finish that later. DS loo done quite thoroughly. Gs3 will be collected by his fireman daddy by 12.30 so I shall bat on then.

Storm has passed and all is calm now although the sky is quite heavy.
  • Hello all

    Welcome to the newbies

Thanks for this weeks list natty

Haven't caught up with last weeks thread so hugs, spoons & sticks where needed.

Was meant to be at my friends until tomorrow and come back via brum for the flylady meet but due to the weather I came back yesterday. So I'm just seeing how much the trains are (and whether they are running ) to see if I can make the meet tomorrow.

I have decided to move back to my adopted home town (after OH died I moved back to the town I grew up). It's much cheaper to live there and I am homesick. After my friends passing a couple of weeks ago it has re-enforced YOLO (you only live once). So I'm going to re-do my Toots list (the one I have is for if I was going to stay here, the new one is to get ready to sell it) and declutter anything that doesn't pass the beautiful/useful test.

    Have a great week all

Very bizarre, and no doubt very unsettling for you. (((Hugs)) HB.

I am no expert in the law or ever had to do anything like this, but I think I if I were you I would fax a copy of their refund cheque and the covering letter to SP and at the same time inform them in writing that their Final Notice is clearly no longer necessary, since the letter admits that you owe them nothing. If they send someone round, don't let them in or even open the door to them - call the police immediately and show them the "nothing owed" letter.

If you email the copy, it won't get dealt with immediately. If you fax it, it might. You could try phoning first, saying "This is what I'm going to do" and threatening to take them to court for harassment!

I am flying in the living room from the top of a stepladder, painting. Just came down to answer a phonecall from a friend, drink :coffee: made by DH :A and catch up with fred.
  • Morning all, I did quite a bit of today's list yesterday which is a rather nice feeling. I will however be hoovering the sofas as I'm sure there's a ton of fluff just waiting to be discovered under those cushions! I'll be sorting out the paperwork on the dining room table and the accumulation of 'stuff' in pile in the living room. Where does it all come from????

honey bear there is a page in the money mail part of the daily mail that helps sort problem out like this for readers in view of the fact power suppliers are getting bad press anyway at the moment is it something that your local paper would take on and sort out for you. i would ring them and tell the you are sending a copy of the letter to them that proves you owe nothing and see if that helps in anyway. it must be such a worry for you i hope it can be cleared up as you really dont need the stress.

have rung my mum and told her i love her.
folded all the non iron washing i got in before the overnight downpour
did my HHe on wii fit - not too bad i put a lb on last week but expected it to be worse as we had more drink and choc than normal with everyone being in holiday mode

Thanks for the finding vibes. If I had pretty good hearing I wouldn't have spent £3k on hearing aids! I have different levels of loss depending on frequency - high sounds are not bad but low are terrible. On average I have 50% loss in my right ear and 75% in my left ear. I was still wearing the left aid so this ear was hearing 'perfectly'. It's amazing what you can still hear when you are partially deaf and it's amazing what you hear once your aids are in that you can't otherwise - I can only hear DD walking around upstairs with them in, it sounds like an elephant bumbling about. Without them - silence!

Can I suggest the following for Scottish Power?
Did you have gas and electricity with that company and did you get regular, separate bills for both fuels?
Or did you get one bill for both?
Does the closing reading on their bill match the opening reading given to the new suppliers?
Have you had a meter exchanged for either gas or electricity while you've been with them?
Check the account number on the Final Notice against the account number on the refund. Are they the same?

I suspect that if you had one bill for both fuels, that the change of supplier may have separated the bill on their system and they're chasing a sum outstanding on one fuel while they have refunded a surplus on the other fuel.

Let me know how it goes. You may need these people...
