Mrs MP I agree about Halloween becoming so commercial, DS2 (17) said he felt embarrassed at work last night (supermarket) tidying it all up as in his words 'it's a rip off on tut'

Orthotics done as well as getting cash, going to the bakers and Mr L

Just need to sort out if I'm taking DS3 over to his Nan's or if she is collecting him and then I can crack on.

  • that programme last night said supermarkets as a group make millions from it.
it was really about fresh produce they featured a farm in wisbeach where most of the pumpkins come form they were panicing becasue they were still green so the farmer had got them all in barns under heat lamps to warm them enough to get the oragne to come out. this is just for one night and they rarely get eaten they are carved then binned.

Virtual *hic* Quality excellent, as expected, Valli.

It's probably just me being an inappropriately seasoned 'Bah, humbug' type, but I seriously mind kids knocking on my door all evening, whether in fancy dress or not, and begging for sweets. I'm not a fan of that kind of American commercial culture and judging by the tat on sale in the supermarkets from the August BH onwards, it's colonising the UK.

One lodger decluttered back to Cochin and another from Oporto due today. I still can't find the towel he left last time he was here, because I've put it somewhere safe.
    Better is good enough.

Dot is poorly AGAIN.. she has a sore throat and can barely speak *bliss*!! lol.. and is all croaky sounding so will no doubt be awful today.

Bickies all iced last night.. I did about half went to feed Pixie and DD2 did the rest and they aren't so good.. but they'll be scoffed all the same I guess.

I have more Christmas stuff just arrived.. jewellery and boots which finishes DD2 off and DD3 is getting one of the pairs of boots and the jewellery is a bit for most of the big ones.

I am going to have a cuppa then have a look at this here list. I have already filled half a binbag of rubbish! I will be needing more bins at this rate.. wonder if the council will let me have a third!?

Honey Bear.. just put a chair outside the door with a handful of sweets in a bowl and a note saying you are unwell or have a large scary dog or are in bed so please don't knock but take a sweet (and leave some for others!!) and have a happy halloween

Hi all. Just folding up the washing. I confess to not having looked at the list this week but DD's bedroom is decorated. DH is currently decorating ours :) and I'm about to sling our curtain in the wash. Later on I will be washing the sofa covers and then as soon as they're dry, I will be popping them in a bath of coffee to dye them.
DH is getting cabin fever as he's off this week but the kids have a fair amount of homework, bedroom tidying, evening parties and other whatnot to do this week which means we need to stay home based. I find October and February half terms are always the same TBH as they are just too tired and sluggish to want to rush around and they just want to have some down time whilst they are catching up. Bless them.
We don't eat the carving pumpkins. One year SiL and I both spent hours making pumpkin soup and it smelled wonderful. It tasted of absolutely nothing. I added loads of garlic and SiL had added chilli. It even sucked out the flavourings we had added. The following year, pumpkins came out labelled "carver" and "edible". Humph.
