Xmas abroad

Has anyone out there been on holiday over xmas?
We had a really horrible xmas last year, with my mum dying and the funeral being on xmas eve. So we're thinking of going on holiday over xmas this year (no-one to stay in England for now). We've been looking at Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia or Morocco. We've only been abroad in the summer before, is it warm enough to sit on the beach in December in any of the above countries? If not, what else have people found to do?
Would you give xmas holiday the thumbs up or down?

Up. Done it so many times, but generally long haul.
Egypt may be the warmest out of those and the highest price, you may also consider a trip to South Florida, flying indirectly.

We're in Doncaster. But we're thinking we may have left it too late as a friend says they may have sold all the rooms by now.I love a bargain. Now mortgage and debt free. hurray!!:smileyhea0

We're going away for Christmas/New Year for the first time this year and I can't wait - we booked in January, as soon as the flights came out because we are tied to school holidays.
Have thought about doing this a few times over the last few years but always left it too late to get decent enough flights to make it worthwhile.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Thumbs up from me!

I've just booked to go to Egypt for Xmas and NY and I'm so looking forward to it. I really hate this time of year and can't wait to escape!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Thomson will still have availability from Doncaster
Club hotel Riu Paraiso in Lanzarote is a good AI place if that's the sort of thing you're looking for.
We went at Christmas a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, great gala dinners etc. on Christmas and NY eveChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Thomson flights look expensive to anywhere - Ryanair to Tenerife worth a look.shopaholicz wrote: »We're in Doncaster.
Alternatively, look at East Midlands - they seem to have cheaper flights to the other Canary Islands as well (mainly Ryanair, but if you want a package try Jet2 and Monarch).0 -
I've been abroad many times at Christmas. Madera celebrates in style and the street decorations in Funchal are spectacular. The weather isn't beach warm but is pleasant.0

We had never considered this until this year but it is very appealing. It would be a big change for us.0
