Morning gang! Was woken by the wind (outside, keep it clean) about 20 mins ago. Not gonna go out in it but all seems fine here so far *crosses fingers*

    Xmas Saver!
Mildred if you PM me where you are located I'll see if I can find more info for you. I know it's worrying when you're away.
Seems like Newport is pretty badly hit in some areas with roads flooding.
Coldra M4 closed J22-24 and both Severn crossings closed - nice detour - NOT!

Reminds me of 22nd Oct 1998 - the day before I flew to New Orleans to meet my now hubby for 1st time. Was going to stay overnight at my best friend's in Manchester BUT I hadn't packed so decided to go up early next morning. The weather was atrocious so thought it better to wait.

Got shouted at over the phone "YOU - get up here NOW!"

Spent 15mins on phone and got totally told off, so much so that I packed in 10 minutes flat & made my way up there at 6pm.

Hmmmm - It took me 7 hrs to drive there (In those days 2hrs for the 170 miles was normal for me - not so many speed cameras then!). I could hardly see as rain was SO bad.

IF I hadn't got shouted at by her I'd never have made the flight as Wales ended up flooded, almost totally, many roads impassable that I'd have needed to take.

Everything ended well though - we met & were married after 10 days. Shocking both myself and everyone who knew me as we'd only met online 10 wks beforehand and I rarely did anything major on a whim + was happily single & independent. Meant to be!

Best friend phoned last weekend to once again remind me that if she hadn't insisted on me travelling up the night before, it might never have happened. :A:)

Thanks WIRS, have pm'd you :T

Great story, some things are meant to be :)

  • Good morning all.

Very windy here, lots of trees fallen around, but we seem not to have lost any fences etc *touches wood*.

Been extremely busy over the weekend, moving daughter to new place. We now have the house to ourselves for the first time in 26.5 years. It is unbelievably quiet!

Saying that, I gave up trying to sleep at 06:30 this morning, wind was whistling past our window and OH was snoring in a clashing key :mad:

    Morning all

The storm seems to have passed without incident here, thankfully. I'll get garden reports when they can go out and inspect properly, but hopefully we'll have escaped the worst of it. Thinking of Bubbs and anyone else who may be more affected

Its weird here though. Its like a ghost town. I saw perhaps about 4 or 5 cars on my way in, on a main A road into the centre

The co-op up the road from work is closing today for refit. I thought something was amiss last week because of their serious lack of fresh deliveries, and now I know why. I cant even get a cup of tea yet cos the hospital cafe isnt open :(

Lets hope today just gets better
