It might not be beige for long
I know, it is such a big purchase which I need to get right.
I had coir before, which was great at it was pale cream, never dirtied and rarely had to be hoovered, but it did not last long as there are loads of people in the house, there are holes where people step.
I am surprised by the colours of carpets you can get now... orange looks lovely, but may clash with the furniture and OH may have a paddy!
I did find this
http://www.flooring-megastore.co.uk/artificial-grass/lawn.html
and thought this will last!:eek::eek::eek:
I think I will get a looped pile, that is not one solid colour but need to keep it neutral. I also need to limit myself in costs as I the ones I like are expensive and we are moving in the Spring so we will be renting the house out.. do need it cheap, cheerful and long lasting.
As I have not moved off the sofa.. it maybe next weekend I actually go to the shop..... unless there is something glitching that can motivate me to move!
I think I will have another cuppa!

For anyone who joined up to sun perks, today's offer is a coupon to get the children's book Peppa Pig: The Story of Prince George for £2.50 instead of £6.99 in T@sco
These books are stickered at £3 in my Tesco but go through at £3.85. I didn t bother buying and getting Dtd as I d already bought one for Riley for £2.50 with the Sun. If someone wanted one without buying the sun it should be £2.15 with Dtd.:)0 -
I know that some of you including Fairclaire have done this before.
Most of my stuff is ready to be boxed. Do I wrap it all so its like a surprise or just put in the box.
Thanks
I usually just put everything in the box - I also take loose stuff to a local company that collects toiletries, stationaery etc and takes it to the troops in a job lot.
oops - couldn't make up my mind whether it was an 'a' or an 'e' lol0 -

I have 2 cousins who are/were firefighters, one is now retired and has told me he misses the adrenalin buzz of driving a truck at full pelt on blues and twos!:) Ive seen him coming towards me on a job with an almost manic grin on his face!:D
It can be a dangerous and difficult job and some of the worse jobs are cutting seriously injured people from car wrecks! that you really wouldn't wish to see or hear about!:(
it can also be a nice little number too due to shift patterns, they can sleep on night shift and most have a 2nd day or part time job;)
unfortunately they need to be brought dragging and screaming into the 21st century like the rest of us.... we are all living longer and have to retire and collect our pensions later and so will they...
they do do a wonderful job with a risk of injury but then so do a lot of other jobs without the same kudos.
50 years old is too young an age to retire nowadays, so they will need to suck it up like the rest of us!:D
I do agree in relation to the austerity measures.. it effects everyone (but in different ways especially if you are a banker!).
I would agree that the shift patterns need to be altered and that there is truth in the second jobs.. but I do not know any rich fireman they all seen to just eek a living.
I still struggle with a 60 year old being physically capable of doing this job and the risks it poses to them and others. This is the key they need to be physically and mentally able to do the job, and should be rewarded for the dangers both physical and psychological that they face. It maybe that they have a system where people move to alternative jobs in the fire brigade, (at a specific age, health, fitness) but it is likely to cost more as these roles do not need additional pay for danger etc.100 -
