Listed 7 items on eb*y. I am caving in and going to the shops..I actually need storage boxes for the 'stuff' in our bedrooms that can be stored in the loft. This will free up so much space in all our rooms. The sun's out too which instantly lifts my mood.:DMortgage 22 years £190,419 at 2.84% fixed for 2 years from 1st July 2014

Can't believe I have only just spotted your diary. We are similar in so many ways, even down to the £130 for car tax and having a 16 0% credit card, haha so definitely subscribing to your diary.
I am 33, single with two kids (girls - 6 and 4). Have a mortgage with my brother, but hopefully will be buying him out soon, so will have a huge mortgage of around £205,000, eek! all by myself.
Part of me thinks why am I doing this, I'm not going to have a life, but then another part of me thinks, well, what's the alternative? We can sell up, and I can buy somewhere cheaper, but houses aren't cheap around where I live and I don't want to move away (not yet, maybe when the girls start secondary school) and by the time we've sold, and bought again, all the money that I have "saved" by buying a cheaper place will have been eaten up in fees.
Planning on getting a 30year term for the mortgage I already have and 40year term for the 2nd mortgage. Sounds ridiculous I know, but leaves me some scope for having a life, and if I can overpay, I certainly will!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I have looked at so many diaries and I have seen a few over time similar to me but they have not posted for a while.
We will do it Pollyanna24..
Like you I live in an expensive area and everything is on my doorstep which makes life easy. The kids have their friends here so to move to somewhere cheaper would be upheaval.
My CSA will cease when my youngest is 18/19 which is 9/10 years away. I think that I will be in a better position to downsize then. I hope that would free up money for the kids uni/college etc.
I enjoy the challenge of OP..the OP calculator is addictive. I have not even put a dent in my mortgage BUT perseverance is the key.
I have just got in from H0m3 Barg*ins!! Spent £30 on important items like a red campervan tea towel!! Everything else was just stocking up - this always makes me feel content. Full cupboards and full fridge freezer and my house smelling clean..happy:)Mortgage 22 years £190,419 at 2.84% fixed for 2 years from 1st July 2014

O dear!!
I have spent today, not loads, but it wasn't my fault..it was pressure from the kids. DD on a sleepover so sent her with £5 to go to the 'Shake Bar'..DS with £10 cos he was out with friends. I went to a coffee shop and spent the afternoon there with my friend..spent £12!
Bought DS and his friends a chippy tea..easier than cooking..£10.47.
Boo hoo..
Tomorrow I am going out for lunch with my friend...we really need a catch up and I have budgeted for this. It is a long overdue treat.Mortgage 22 years £190,419 at 2.84% fixed for 2 years from 1st July 2014

I get paid tomorrow and I am £70 OD. Ooops.
I have an OD facility so it hasn't cost me anything but it will have a knock on effect on March's spending and OPing.
I have had so many NSDs this month BUT I have eaten out and bought at a BS party and overspent in groceries this month.
My resolution is to be really frugal in March and join some challenges on the DFW board.Mortgage 22 years £190,419 at 2.84% fixed for 2 years from 1st July 2014

Good for you OP - I know it can be quite disheartening sometimes thinking about the mortgage and the time it takes to pay it off but remember that every OP helps reduce the time and reduce the overall interest you pay - every little helps!
Set yourself goals for each year/6 months and then work towards them, that way you can feel you are making some progress regularly. Good luck!I am insane and have 4 mortgages - total mortgage debt £200k. Target to zero = 10 years! (2030)0 -
