We are using the laptop. The issue is on the desk top computer.
We're able to access any websites that has been saved to favs.
How do I ping to google though? sorry like I said I have no understanding of anything like this at allFuture goals:

tried the IE reset?
if you search for ping, there's a lot of other threads detailing the diagnostic process in these situations.
If your laptop is working, it's nothing to do with the router or internet connection
post a hijackthis log!!

As scheming gypsy said earlier, try this
start > run > cmd (ok) > ipconfig (enter). Do you get an IP address?
do the start > run > cmd and then ping www.google.co.uk . do you get a reply, a timed out message or a destination unreachable message?
When you press enter after typing ipconfig a black box will pop up.0 -

I just searched about the ping & done it on faulty computer. I know have been given these results
pinging google.com with 32 bytes of data
reply from 173.194.34.148: 32 bytes of data time 52 ms TTL 58
(That reply line is four times all the same)Future goals:

your internet connection is working then, confirm by testing another couple of random sites.!!

I've just tried other websites that ISN'T in the fav and its saying
PING REQUEST COULD NOT FIND HOST. PLEASE CHECK THE NAME AND TRY AGAIN.Future goals:

Nothing else at present.
