I wouldn't say most people are ignoring your problem, it's just what they are saying doesn't match with what you want to hear.

    Fair enough, I'll accept that.

I suppose I was expecting more "yes it's weird but that's the way it works" or "you could try this" rather than "tough, you should just go along with what the couriers say and pay them twice to do their job" (once to deliver the parcel, and then again not to damage it).
  • When you ask the customer to pay for your insurance, and then self insure, you can get odd consequences.

For instance, bad press about losing parcels might lead to higher profits. (if more peope take out insurance, than switch to a different provider).

It's like moral hazard but super-charged.

I'm interested in this view that keeps coming up in threads about couriers, ie that the customer should take out insurance to cover losses caused by the couriers failure to do their job properly.

I'm strugglig to think of other services where this view is taken as the norm.

It's also a stance which seems at odds with the rest of this website, which is about standing up for your rights and getting the service you pay for.

How else would something get lost?

Wow, first response from them is this.

I have provided the 3 items requested on the claim website.

Not received any request from them, only an automated "we will get back to you". I asked them to provide some info.

The claim now says "Rejected - Parcel located". So I've asked them for the location.

  • It's all over now, apart from the recriminations and lesson learning.

What that email above should have said was: "Dear customer, the courier has the parcel. What we said about it being delivered and having a signature was all [STRIKE] lies[/STRIKE] a misunderstanding, sorry for any inconvenience are our !!!!!! customer service"
