  • 7, though I did marry the 7th and am still with him. I'm still in touch with most of them too, and my other half is still in touch with a number of his exes as well. In fact several of them were at our wedding.

Seems I'm the rebel here - we got married THEN began living together.

So only lived with one guy.

Me too - got married at 20, he was the one and only lover I've ever had .....and the only one I ever wanted.

Now I'm on my own, I sometimes think it would be nice to have masculine company (other than my sons!) - but I still don't think I'm ready!
  • Three. I only shared finances with one - which put me off the idea permanently. The first one assumed he was moving in with me when I rented my first flat and, as I had just found out I was pregnant, felt too guilty for the baby to say 'actually, this was supposed to be just my flat - I'll be fine with you visiting for a while'.

The next one just never went home one night and was still in my flat five years later. The next railroaded me into it.

The next tried to move in repeatedly, coming up with all manner of disasters and emergencies that meant he couldn't possibly go home for weeks on end. Lots of whining and wailing, left a job because 'I wanted to spend more time with you' and 'why can't you put me on your tenancy if you love me?' And eventually turned up at my doorstep announcing that he'd ended his tenancy on his place, his mum didn't want him and he had nowhere to go. Plus his car was out of petrol and was 'stranded' somewhere. I was stuck with him for three months of utter misery - but I don't count that as living with him, that was more being blackmailed into not picking on pawr ickle him.

Eventually got rid of the last one by telling him if something happened to me he'd be out on the street - and as soon as he finally pulled his finger out and got his own place, I waved him off happily.

And changed the locks and my phone number.

If I do it again, it'll be done properly and for all the right reasons. But at 40 and with two cats, the odds on anybody ever wanting to marry me are fairly low. So I'll settle for living together properly and officially.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Yup you are officially Rock n Roll :D
  • Two or one, you decide!

I shared a house with friends in my final year at uni, one of whom became my boyfriend during the year. So this was accidental, although we ended up converting one room into our bedroom and the other became a study for us.

Moved in with number 2 after being together a matter of weeks. Still together 11 years later and married with kids!

    2. I lived with my ex for over 10 years-slowly moved in with him after 6 weeks. Had a few years on my own with our kids and then met my now husband. We moved in together after 3 months and are still extremely happy together.
So quite quick for both really.

Currently I have only lived with my ex husband, moved in after a couple of weeks and lasted 13 years too long. Asked new partner to move in when his tenancy runs out in December. He's pretty much here all the time anyway and feels right. That will be after 4 months of being with each other.
