Does that mean that we are able to cancel our account with them? I have just over two months left on my contract and would like to get rid of them!!0

they'll get round it somehow im sure dont know what the cut off date but its only for new cutomersWhat goes around-comes around0
-
I was wondering if this provides a get out clause as well. Don't think anyone's been formally notified yet, so it'll probably be a case of waiting until then before making moves.0

Wouldn't mind finding this out myself but have a sneaky suspicion we won't be able to just cancel.
I reckon it'll be down to the wording of the following:
"We're making some pricing changes for services outside your monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data"
that will cover them
Here's hoping though

Which is why I'm sure Vodafone are putting their prices up before hand. No doubt the other operators will follow before January.0 -
My thoughts entirely.Which is why I'm sure Vodafone are putting their prices up before hand. No doubt the other operators will follow before January.
I don't really get how OFCOM can post date this decision? Its not a ruling, its just clarifying existing law, so why isn't it effective immediately?0 -
The rise was mentioned on BBC breakfast yesterday and the presenter stated that, because some calls will rise by as much as 30%, VF would let customers end their contract despite the OFCOM ruling not coming in to force until January. Somehow I can't see it being that simple though. The following is from the VF website T&Cs and suggests that only customers who's bills would rise by more than 10% can cancel.b. You may end this agreement by writing to us if:
- we increase your charges in the UK which has the effect of increasing your total charges (based on your usage in any of the previous three months) by more than 10% and you write to us before the increase applies; or

Hi Guys,
Any update on this? I got a text from vodafone notifying me of the changes.
The only change that will affect me is the rise in cost of internatioanl text messages. I sent 10-20 of these a month, so it will cost me an extra 50p to £1 a month. This is not going to meet the 10% requirement set by vodafone but am I right in thinking that this is their interpretation of matierl detriment and not necessarily in line with the law?0 -

I think at the moment you would struggle to show that a £1 per month increase was a material detriment, although I suppose it depends on your current monthly tariff cost. If you sent 500 international texts a month you may have more of a case.
No harm is pushing Vodafone on it though.0
