after some advice please folks

I have just phoned Tmobile (EE) to give my 30 day notice for cancelling my SIM only contract (by the way I have 3 sim only contracts, and will be cancelling them all)

having given the required 30 day notice to terminate the 3 contracts, I was told there would be a charge for the PAC, this I objected to

I was told I would have to call back when my contract ends to get my PAC codes free of charge

can anyone confirm if charging for the PAC is the norm

I have done a quick search, it appears to be a very active topic, with conflicting answers

I was under the impression I should give 30 days notice to terminate the contract(which I have) but I would then be given the PAC codes for each sim contract

any advice would be appreciated, Thanks

No they should not charge provided you use the PAC after the end of the contract, you have to argue though. They are just trying it on as usual. Either wait til after you have completed contract to get pac or get it about 20 days before the end of the contract which would give you a few days to transfer after the end of the contract and then argue to have the MNP charge removed.
